Online casino questions

Online casino questions answered directly: is it legal, will they pay out, how long do withdrawals take, what do bonus terms mean and how are winnings taxed. Each answer leads with a one-sentence reply, then the detail and the US legal context.

Online casino questions, answered in the first sentence

This section collects more than 170 questions US players type into search engines. Every answer opens with a direct reply, then explains the reasoning, the relevant law or casino terms, a worked example where numbers help, and what to do next. We don't hedge to avoid an uncomfortable answer, and we don't stretch a fact further than its source supports.

Where a question touches the law, we report what the statute or regulator says, with the date. Where it touches a specific casino, we quote that casino's published terms or label third-party reports as such. For example, is SlotoCash legit sets out what the casino states, what reviewers report and the Michigan Gaming Control Board's October 8, 2026 cease-and-desist release, rather than giving a yes or no.

Short answers can't cover every situation. If your question is about a dispute with a casino, the right first step is usually the casino's own support team, in writing, with your account details and dates. Our how do I complain about an online casino answer explains what to do if that fails, and what happens if a casino closes covers the worst case. We can't intervene with a casino on your behalf.

Casino questions by category

If a question needs a longer walkthrough, the answer links to the relevant guide or glossary entry. Our partner casinos are offshore and not licensed by any US state; where an answer mentions their offers, it says so and notes 21+ (18+ where allowed) and that terms apply.

Legal questions are the ones we're asked most, and the answers are shorter than the law behind them. Each row links to the full answer.

Questions to ask before you deposit at any online casino

The best questions are the ones you ask before money moves. Put these to the casino's terms, or to its support team in writing, and keep the answers somewhere you can find them later, such as an email folder or a notes file.

  • Who runs the casino, and what license does it name, if any?
  • Has any US state regulator acted against it?
  • What is the wagering on the bonus, in dollars, and is there a max cashout?
  • What is the weekly withdrawal cap, the minimum withdrawal and the fee for my method?
  • Which documents will I need before a payout?
  • What responsible gambling tools can I set, such as deposit limits or self-exclusion?
  • What does my state's law say about playing here?

If the terms don't answer a question and support won't put an answer in writing, treat that as a warning sign. Our how do I read a casino review answer explains how to check what you're told.

Quick answers on casino games, odds and myths

Game questions in one line each
QuestionShort answer
What is RTP?The share of stakes a game pays back over time; 96% RTP means a 4% house edge
What is the best casino game to win?Low-edge games such as Super 21 (99.6%) and Jacks or Better (99.54%) with correct play
Is roulette better than slots?European roulette's 2.7% edge beats many slots, but bonuses rarely allow it
What is a progressive jackpot?A prize that grows with each qualifying bet until someone wins it
Can you count cards online? No; RNG blackjack reshuffles every hand
Is Martingale a good strategy? No; seven losses from $5 means a $640 next bet, and the edge is unchanged
Are RTG games fair?Reported to be tested by TST; no US state checks offshore setups

Every game answer shows its arithmetic, so you can check it yourself with the casino's own published figures. If you see a claim that a slot is hot, due or loose, it's a myth: each spin is independent, and no betting pattern changes the house edge.

Frequently asked questions

Do offshore casinos pay out?

Often yes, but slowly and in installments. AskGamblers lists most complaints against Planet 7, Royal Ace and Slot Madness as resolved, while also reporting slow payouts, and there's no state regulator to step in if a payout stalls. Weekly caps are common: SlotoCash's banking page sets $5,000 a week, and third-party reviews report $2,500 a week at Planet 7, Royal Ace and Slot Madness. Reviewers also report slow payments at several brands. Verify early and keep records. Read do offshore casinos pay out and casino withdrawal delays.

Can I get in trouble for playing at online casinos?

We can't promise either way, because it depends on your state's law. Federal laws such as UIGEA aim at gambling businesses and payment processing, not at making a bet a federal crime for the player. Some states have statutes covering online gambling, such as Washington's RCW 9.46.240, which makes knowingly transmitting or receiving gambling information over the internet a class C felony. Read can I get in trouble for playing online casinos and check your state on the states hub.

What is a weekly withdrawal limit?

It's the most a casino will pay you in a week, regardless of how much you've won. SlotoCash's banking page sets $5,000 per week and $20,000 per month, while Silver Oak's terms start at $2,500 per week, raised by VIP level. A $15,000 win at a $5,000 cap takes three weeks to collect. Check the cap before you deposit. See what is a weekly withdrawal limit and our withdrawal limits page.

Can I withdraw a casino bonus?

Not directly. Bonus funds usually become withdrawable only after you meet the wagering requirement, and a max cashout may cap what you can take from them. Free chips and no deposit bonuses often have tight caps; SlotoCash's general terms limit free bonus cashouts to between $25 and $200. Withdrawing early can forfeit the bonus and its winnings. Read can I withdraw a bonus and what is max cashout.

Why should I trust this site?

Because we show our sources and our commercial ties. We earn commission from partner casinos and rank them in a disclosed commercial order, not by score. Every fact is dated and comes from casino terms, statutes, regulator releases or third-party reports labeled as such, and we publish regulator actions against our own partners. We don't claim to have tested anything. Read why trust this site and our editorial policy.

Are online casinos legal in the US?

In seven states, yes: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island license real-money online casinos. Maine legalized tribal online casinos in January 2026, but none had launched by October 2026. Elsewhere, no state licenses them, and state law decides whether offshore play is lawful where you live. Offshore casinos, including our partners, aren't licensed by any US state. Read are online casinos legal in the US and states with legal online casinos.

What is the safest online casino?

A state-licensed casino in one of the seven licensing states is the safest choice, because a state regulator oversees player funds and complaints. Offshore casinos, including all our partners, don't have that protection. If you play offshore, look for published terms, a named license, no recent regulator action, reasonable caps and verification you can complete early. Read what is the safest online casino and player protections offshore vs licensed.

Can I deduct gambling losses?

Yes, but only up to your winnings for the year, so losses can't create a tax loss. From the 2026 tax year, the 2025 tax law is reported to cap the deduction at 90% of losses; an IRS and Treasury proposed rule published April 17, 2026 states the same limit, so check IRS guidance. Keep records of every session, because you'll need to show both wins and losses. Read can I deduct gambling losses and our gambling loss deduction page.

Who owns SlotoCash and Miami Club?

Neither casino names its operator on its own site, but both are widely reported as Deckmedia N.V. brands. SlotoCash's terms call Sloto'Cash the trade name of Slotocash Casino, and Miami Club's support page says the site is part of the Deckmedia affiliate program. Third parties report a Curaçao license for both that their own terms don't name. Both are offshore and named in Michigan cease-and-desist releases. See who owns SlotoCash and who owns Miami Club.

Can I have two accounts at the same online casino?

No. Partner casinos allow one account per person, and opening a second breaks their terms. SlotoCash's general bonus terms say claiming consecutive free bonuses may void bonuses and winnings, and a third-party complaint thread reports a Silver Oak cashout refused over an alleged duplicate account. A second account can mean a closed account and lost winnings. Read can I have two casino accounts and our bonus abuse rules page.
