What is a download casino? It's an online casino you reach through a program installed on your computer, rather than through a web browser. You download the client from the casino's site, sign in, and the lobby runs as its own window. Silver Oak's own site offers one for Windows, while reviewers report download options at a few other partners.
A download casino is a desktop program, usually for Windows, that connects to your casino account.
Among our partners, only Silver Oak lists a downloadable Windows client on its own site.
Third-party reviews report download clients or a 'Download' platform type at Planet 7, Royal Ace and Slot Madness.
Only install a client linked from the casino's own site; files from unofficial mirror sites are a security risk.
The games, odds and bonus terms are the same as in the browser version.

What is a download casino? A plain definition
A download casino is casino software you install on your computer. After installation you open it like any other desktop program, sign in with your casino account and play games in the program's window instead of a browser tab.
The software is a front end. Your account, balance and bets are still handled on the casino's servers, so the same login works in the download client and the browser version. The download casino glossary entry has the one-line version, and our questions hub collects related answers.
Why download casinos exist: a short history
Installed clients were once the standard way to play at many online casinos, with browser versions offered as a lighter option. As browsers became capable of running full casino games, most casinos moved to browser-first play, and many dropped their clients altogether.
RealTime Gaming, the provider behind most of our partners, was founded in Atlanta in 1998 according to sources including Wikipedia and PokerListings. PokerListings reports that UIGEA in 2006 pushed RTG to move its operations outside the US, and in 2022 it adopted the SpinLogic Gaming brand for US-facing operations. Our RTG software guide covers that story.
Which partner casinos offer a download casino client?
Silver Oak's mobile casino page (opens in a new tab) is the clearest source: it lists a downloadable client for Windows PCs as well as browser play on phones and tablets. For the other partners, the information comes from review sites and isn't settled.

What differs between a download client and the browser
Download casino or browser? A quick guide by device
The right format depends mostly on the device in front of you. Because the client and the browser share one account, you can switch between them without losing your balance or bonus progress.

If a client won't install or sign in, use the browser version on the casino's own site rather than hunting for another download, and ask support whether a client is still offered. Silver Oak's contact page gives an email address with replies within 48 hours. More on device play is in our Android casino guide, iPhone casino guide and best mobile casinos list.
Go to the casino's own site by typing its address, not through an ad, pop-up or message.
Find the download link on the casino's own pages, such as its mobile or software page.
Let your computer's security software scan the file before you run it.
Sign in with the same account you use in the browser; don't create a second account.
Set a deposit limit with support before your first real-money session.
A second account at the same casino counts as a duplicate and can put winnings at risk. See can I have two casino accounts.
Download casino risks to know about
Installed software has more access to your computer than a browser tab, so the source matters. Unofficial mirror sites can copy a casino's look and offer files that aren't from the operator at all.
Never install a casino client sent by email, chat or a social media message.
Be wary of any client that asks for your computer's administrator password more than once.
Keep your casino password different from your computer and email passwords.
If a file came from anywhere other than the casino's own site, delete it.
If you want to step back from gambling, uninstalling the client helps, but your account stays open on the casino's side. To close or exclude the account, contact support; Silver Oak's terms say self-exclusion via live chat is processed immediately.
No. Return to player and house edge are properties of the game, so the format doesn't move them. On a slot with a 96% long-run return, $1,000 in total bets carries an expected loss of $1,000 × 4% = $40 in either version.
Bonus wagering works the same way too. Our house edge guide shows how to estimate the cost of a session in dollars.
Download casinos, offshore status and US law
Installing software doesn't change where a casino is licensed. Our partners are offshore casinos not licensed or regulated by any US state, and state law decides whether online casino play is lawful for you. Online casinos are state-licensed only in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
The Michigan Gaming Control Board issued cease-and-desist letters naming Silver Oak and Planet 7 on April 9, 2025; Royal Ace doesn't appear in the three Michigan releases naming our partners. For the protections you give up offshore, read player protections offshore vs licensed.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a download casino and a no download casino?
A download casino needs a program installed on your computer, while a no-download casino runs in a web browser. Both connect to the same account and servers, so games, odds and bonus terms don't change. Browser play also works on phones and Macs, which most clients don't. Our instant play vs download guide compares them in more detail.
Does Silver Oak have a download casino?
Yes. The casino's mobile page lists a downloadable client for Windows PCs, alongside browser play on iPhone, Android and tablets. It runs RealTime Gaming software. There's no dedicated phone app listed, so on a phone you'd use the browser. The Silver Oak review covers its Anjouan license, banking caps and the Michigan action naming it in April 2025.
Can I use a download casino on a Mac?
Usually not. The download client Silver Oak lists is for Windows, and reviewers don't describe Mac clients at our other partners. On a Mac, the browser version is the practical choice and gives you the same account and games. Our mobile casino guide also covers browser play across devices, including tablets and laptops.
Are download casinos safe?
A client from the casino's own site is as safe as the casino behind it, but a file from anywhere else is a real risk. Unofficial mirror sites can offer fake clients that capture logins. Download only from the operator's own pages, scan the file and use a unique password. Our casino account security guide lists sensible precautions.
Do download casinos have more games?
Not necessarily. Game lists depend on the casino and its software provider, not on the format, and partners don't publish reliable counts by version. Both Silver Oak versions run RTG games. To check whether a particular title is available, look in the casino's lobby. The best RTG casinos list compares partners running RealTime Gaming.
Do I need a separate account for the download version?
No, and you shouldn't open one. The client signs in to the same account as the browser version, so your balance and bonus progress carry across. A second account at the same casino counts as a duplicate, which can lead to voided winnings at verification. Read why does the casino want my documents to see how accounts get matched.
Is there a download casino app for my phone?
Not at our partners. None lists a native app in the App Store or Google Play, so phone play happens in the browser, where you can add a home-screen shortcut. Store apps for real-money casinos exist only in the seven states that license online casinos. See why there's no casino app in the App Store for the reasons.
How do I remove a download casino from my computer?
Uninstall it like any other program through your computer's settings, then delete any saved login. That removes the software but not your account, so contact support if you want the account closed or self-excluded. Blocking tools can stop casino software running again. Our self-exclusion guide explains how exclusion works at offshore casinos.
Does Planet 7 Casino have a download casino?
Third-party reviews report that it does. Blockonomi's Planet 7 review mentions a download client alongside instant play in the mobile browser on Android and iOS, and says there's no downloadable phone app. Planet 7's own site wasn't confirmed as offering the client, so look for the link on the casino's own pages before installing anything. Reviewers list RealTime Gaming as its software, with casino.guru also naming SpinLogic. Michigan's board named Planet 7 on April 9, 2025. Our Planet 7 mobile page covers browser play.
Does Royal Ace Casino have a download version?
AskGamblers lists Download among Royal Ace's platform types, along with instant play, mobile and crypto, but Royal Ace doesn't confirm a client on any page we could read. That makes it a third-party report rather than a settled fact. If you want the client, check the casino's own site for a download link, and use the browser if there isn't one. Third-party reviews also report Royal Ace refuses Ohio players. Our Royal Ace mobile casino page explains how browser play works there.
Does SlotoCash have downloadable casino software?
No. SlotoCash's support page says there is currently no app or software required, because the casino runs as instant play in your browser. On a phone, it suggests adding a home-screen shortcut so the site opens like an app. Any file claiming to be a SlotoCash download from another site should be treated as suspect and deleted. Live chat is listed as open 24/7 if you have trouble signing in. Our SlotoCash mobile casino page covers phone and tablet play.
Does Miami Club Casino have a download app?
Its own site doesn't mention one. Miami Club's support FAQ describes a mobile-friendly site available for mobile devices and desktop, while one third-party listing shows an app as available, which conflicts with the casino's own wording. Play in the browser on the casino's own site unless you find an app link there. Miami Club runs WGS (Wager Gaming) software. Its Terms of Use (v2.1, section 1.6) list the US as prohibited, while the affiliate program confirms US players are accepted, so confirm at sign-up. See Miami Club mobile.
Do download casinos have different bonuses?
No, bonuses belong to your casino account, not to the software you use to reach it. A welcome bonus, code or free spins offer has the same wagering, max bet and max cashout terms whether you play in the client or the browser. Silver Oak's offer page, for example, lists 30x playthrough while its general terms say 40x on slots, and that conflict applies in both formats. Check the terms shown at sign-up. Our guide to how to claim a casino bonus walks through the steps.
Can I use a download casino in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania is one of the seven states that license real-money online casinos, so residents there have state-licensed options. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board listed 12 certificateholders and 25 authorized online casino sites as of February 13, 2026, and licensed sites answer to that regulator. Our offshore partners aren't among them, and no US state licenses them. Before installing any casino software, check whether the site appears on the board's list. Our Pennsylvania online casinos page sets out the state's law and options.
