What is a match bonus? It's casino bonus money added in proportion to your deposit: a 200% match on $100 adds $200, giving you $300 to play with. The catch is wagering, often counted on deposit plus bonus. Here's how match bonuses work, what they cost to clear in dollars, and what our partners publish.
A match bonus adds a percentage of your deposit as bonus funds, up to a cap.
Wagering on deposit plus bonus is much heavier than wagering on the bonus alone.
Multiply the wagering multiple by the house edge: at 1 or more, clearing is expected to cost the whole balance.
Our partners are offshore and not licensed by any US state; check your state's law.

What is a match bonus at an online casino?
A match bonus is bonus money a casino adds when you deposit, calculated as a percentage of that deposit. A 100% match doubles it, a 200% match triples your starting balance, and so on, up to a maximum bonus amount.
The bonus isn't cash. It comes with a wagering requirement and game rules, and until you meet them, both the bonus and anything you win from it are usually locked. That's the core trade: a bigger balance now in exchange for a lot of required play. The short version is in our match bonus glossary entry.
Match bonuses are the backbone of most welcome packages, and casinos often repeat them as reload offers for later deposits; see what a reload bonus is.
How a match bonus is calculated
The formula is: bonus = deposit × match percentage, capped at the stated maximum. Your starting balance is deposit plus bonus.

The cap matters on bigger deposits. Third-party reviews list SlotoCash's first-deposit match as 200% up to $2,000, so a $1,500 deposit would earn $2,000, not $3,000. "Unlimited" matches have no cap, which is why one review describes Slot Madness's 275% offer that way; see our unlimited match bonus guide.
Deposit plus bonus vs bonus-only wagering
This is the most important line in any match bonus. Bonus-only wagering multiplies just the bonus. Deposit plus bonus (often written d+b or b+d) multiplies the whole starting balance, which makes the requirement much larger.
On a $100 deposit with a 200% match, 25x bonus-only means $5,000 of bets. The same 25x on deposit plus bonus means $7,500. SlotoCash's own welcome terms use 25x deposit plus bonus, and reviewers report 30x deposit plus bonus at Slot Madness and 25x to 35x at Decode. More worked cases are in wagering requirements explained.
What a match bonus costs to clear, in dollars
Every bet made while wagering carries the house edge. Expected cost of clearing = total wagering × house edge. The table uses a slot with a 96% RTP (a 4% edge) and a $100 deposit.

A simple rule of thumb follows. Multiply the wagering multiple by the house edge. At 25x and 4%, the product is 1, so clearing is expected to use up the whole balance; above 1, the expected cost exceeds it. On a slot with 96.25% RTP, such as Sweet 16, 25x × 3.75% is about 0.94, leaving roughly $18.75 of a $300 balance on average.
These are rough averages. Real sessions vary widely, and a balance can bust early or run well ahead. The point is that most match bonuses buy playing time rather than expected profit. The method is set out in full in expected value of a bonus.
Table games are usually excluded or weighted lower, so plan to clear match bonuses on slots; see what games count toward wagering. Also check whether the bonus is sticky, meaning it can't be withdrawn itself, and the max cashout, which can limit a big win.
Match bonuses at Slot Madness, SlotoCash and Decode
SlotoCash (casino's own terms)
SlotoCash's welcome bonus terms (opens in a new tab) describe a $7,777 + 300 spins package over five deposits: 200%, 200%, 100%, 100% and 177%, each with its own code (SLOTO1MATCH to SLOTO5MATCH). Wagering is 25x deposit plus bonus, with no max cashout. Per-deposit dollar caps aren't stated on the site; third-party reviews list $2,000, $2,000 and $1,000 for the first three.
Slot Madness (third-party reviews)
LCB's Slot Madness listing (opens in a new tab) reports a 275% match up to $2,750 with code MAD275, a $30 minimum deposit, 30x deposit plus bonus on slots and no max cashout. Another review calls the same offer an "unlimited" 275% with 50 extra spins, and one article mentions 265% in one place. The casino's own site couldn't be read, so treat these as reported.
Decode (third-party reviews)
Reviewers list a 111% match up to $1,111 (code DECODE111) at 25x deposit plus bonus and a 400% sign-up match (code EASY25CODE) at 35x, both with a $25 minimum. VegasSlotsOnline's Decode review (opens in a new tab) reports a 500% match with 50 spins at 30x. Codes change often; see do bonus codes expire.
How to claim a match bonus, step by step
Read the offer: match percentage, maximum bonus, minimum deposit, wagering basis and multiple, max cashout, max bet, eligible games and expiry.
Decide on a deposit you can afford to lose in full, regardless of the bonus.
Enter any code in the cashier when the terms say: SlotoCash's terms say before the deposit or straight after it, before any wager.
Make the deposit and confirm the bonus shows in your balance.
Play eligible slots under the max bet and track the wagering remaining.
Verify your account before requesting a withdrawal, so the payout isn't held up.
Match bonus vs cashback and free spins
A match bonus gives the most money up front but with the heaviest rollover. Cashback returns part of your losses afterward, often with lighter conditions. Free spins give a set number of spins on a named slot, with winnings that usually carry their own wagering. None of them changes the house edge.
A match bonus follows the legal status of the casino offering it. Real-money online casinos are state-licensed only in seven states, and our partners are offshore casinos that no US state licenses or regulates. Your state's law decides whether playing there is allowed; see our offshore casino legality page.
A bigger balance can make it easy to play longer than planned. Decide your deposit and time limit first, and don't deposit again just to finish wagering. The house edge means losses are likely over time.

Frequently asked questions
What does a 100% match bonus mean?
A 100% match bonus means the casino adds bonus funds equal to your deposit, up to a stated cap. Deposit $100 and you get $100 in bonus, for a $200 balance. The bonus carries wagering, often 25x to 40x, before it can be withdrawn, and some terms count your deposit in the requirement too. Check the cap and the wagering basis before you deposit. Our deposit match explained page shows more examples.
Is a 200% match bonus better than a 100% match?
Not automatically. A 200% match adds more bonus money, but if wagering is counted on deposit plus bonus, the requirement grows with it. At 25x, a 100% match on $100 needs $5,000 of bets, while 200% needs $7,500. The better offer is the one with lower wagering, a higher or no max cashout and fair game rules. See our 200% match bonus guide for a full breakdown.
Can I withdraw a match bonus?
Not straight away. You must meet the wagering requirement first, and until then a withdrawal request may cancel the bonus and any winnings from it. Some bonuses are sticky, meaning the bonus itself is removed at cashout and only winnings above it can be withdrawn. Max cashout caps can also limit what you keep. Read whether you can withdraw a bonus for the details.
What does deposit plus bonus wagering mean?
It means the wagering multiple applies to your deposit and the bonus combined, not just the bonus. A $100 deposit with a $200 bonus at 25x deposit plus bonus requires $7,500 in bets, compared with $5,000 if only the bonus counted. SlotoCash's own terms use this basis at 25x, and reviewers report 30x at Slot Madness. Our guide to bonus wagering requirements compares both methods.
Which casinos have the biggest match bonuses?
Among our partners, reviewers report Decode codes at 400% and 500%, Slot Madness at 275% and SlotoCash's own terms list 200% on its first two deposits. Bigger percentages usually come with heavier wagering, so size alone tells you little. All are offshore casinos not licensed by any US state; check your state's law first. Our ranking of big welcome bonus casinos compares them on full terms.
Can I use a match bonus on blackjack or roulette?
Usually not, or only at a much lower rate. Match bonus funds are generally limited to slots, keno and scratch cards, and table games are often excluded or weighted lower toward wagering. SlotoCash's welcome terms say play on other games voids promotion winnings. Check the eligible games list before you play anything with bonus funds. See game weighting explained for how weighting is applied.
Do I need a bonus code for a match bonus?
Sometimes. SlotoCash's own terms list a code for each welcome deposit (SLOTO1MATCH to SLOTO5MATCH), to be redeemed before or straight after the deposit and before any wager. Reviewers list MAD275 at Slot Madness and DECODE111 at Decode. Codes change and can expire, so confirm them in the cashier at sign-up. Our bonus codes guide explains how codes work.
Is a match bonus worth taking?
It depends on the terms and on why you're playing. If you'd play through your deposit anyway, a bonus with low wagering and no max cashout adds playing time. If wagering times the house edge is 1 or more, clearing is expected to cost the whole balance, and you lose the option to withdraw your deposit early. Declining is often reasonable. The match bonus guide and comparing casino bonuses help you decide.
Does Miami Club Casino have a match bonus?
Yes, Miami Club's own published package is a 100% match up to $100 on each of eight deposits, for up to $800 in total, at 20x deposit plus bonus. Its bonus terms set 30x deposit plus bonus on matches above 100%. Through our link the headline is $4,000 Bonus + 285 Bonus Games, so the terms shown at sign-up apply. Its Terms of Use (v2.1, section 1.6) list the US as a prohibited jurisdiction, while the affiliate program confirms US players are accepted, so confirm at sign-up. See the Miami Club welcome bonus page.
What is the Silver Oak match bonus?
Silver Oak's own site advertises a 100% match on each of your first ten deposits, up to $10,000 in total, with no free spins and no max withdrawal stated on the offer. Its wagering figures conflict: the offer page says 30x, while its general terms say 40x on slots and 60x on blackjack and video poker. Deposits start at $30. Through our link the headline is $2,500 Welcome Bonus + 50 Free Spins, so check the version shown at sign-up. Our Silver Oak welcome bonus page compares both.
What is the Planet 7 200% match bonus?
Third-party reviews report Planet 7's welcome match as 200% under the code WELCOME200, with 30x wagering on deposit plus bonus, slots only, and a $1,000 maximum cashout. They also report a $30 card minimum. Planet 7's own site doesn't confirm these terms, and the offer through our link is $2,750 Welcome Bonus + 45 Free Spins, so the terms shown at sign-up apply. On a $100 deposit, 200% at 30x deposit plus bonus means $9,000 in bets. Our Planet 7 bonus codes page tracks reported codes.
What happens if I go over the max bet on a match bonus?
Betting above the maximum while a match bonus is active can void the bonus and any winnings from it. SlotoCash's welcome terms set the max bet at $10 per spin, and most offshore bonuses carry a similar cap. A single oversized bet can be enough, so check the limit before you play and set your stake below it. The rule exists because large bets on a bonus balance shift the risk onto the casino. Our page on why a bonus was removed covers this and other common causes.
How long do I have to clear a match bonus?
It depends on the casino, so check the expiry in the bonus terms before you deposit. SlotoCash's general bonus terms give 90 days, and other partners don't all publish a figure. If the time runs out before you finish wagering, the bonus and any winnings still tied to it are usually removed. A big deposit plus bonus requirement, such as $7,500 in bets on a 200% match, takes far longer to clear than a small one. Our bonus expiry guide explains how time limits are applied.
Can I get a match bonus with Bitcoin?
Yes, several partners attach match bonuses to crypto deposits. SlotoCash's promotions page lists BLOCKFALL-1, a 100% match plus $50 on crypto deposits with a $25 minimum and 27x wagering, and Silver Oak's VIP page lists Bitcoin bonuses of 325% to 400% for existing VIP players. Crypto payments generally can't be reversed and coin prices move, so confirm the code before you send funds. Bonus terms still apply in full. Our Bitcoin bonus guide compares crypto offers.
