What is Double Double Bonus? It's a video poker game built on Jacks or Better that pays big bonuses for four of a kind, and bigger ones again when the fifth card, the kicker, is the right rank. Four aces with a 2, 3 or 4 is the headline hand. The trade-off is a game with sharper swings than its parent.
Double Double Bonus pays by the rank of a four of a kind and adds extra prizes when a specific kicker comes with it.
The kicker hands are four aces with a 2, 3 or 4, and four 2s, 3s or 4s with an ace, 2, 3 or 4.
No RTP for RTG's version appears in our sources; its jackpot cousin, Double Double Jackpot Poker, is listed at 98.98% by SlotCatalog.
More of the return sits in rare hands, so sessions swing harder than in Jacks or Better; budget for that.
Partner casinos shown here are offshore and not licensed by any US state; check your state's law.

What is Double Double Bonus poker? The plain answer
Double Double Bonus Poker is a five-card draw video poker game played with a standard 52-card deck and no wild cards. Like Jacks or Better, it pays from a pair of jacks upward. The difference is at the top: four of a kind doesn't have one prize, it has several, depending on the rank of the four cards and on the card that comes with them.
That fifth card is the kicker. In most poker games it's irrelevant to a four of a kind, but here it can multiply the prize. The game sits at the end of a family tree: Bonus Poker added rank-based quad prizes, Double Bonus enlarged them, and Double Double Bonus added the kicker. Browse our questions hub for more short answers on games and bonuses.
How the kicker works in Double Double Bonus
A kicker only matters for two groups of four of a kind. The table shows which kickers earn the extra bonus. Prize amounts vary by pay table, so read them on the game's pay screen.
Double Double Bonus four-of-a-kind groups and kickers
Read the pay screen. Note the full house and flush prizes, the two pair prize and the four-of-a-kind lines with kickers.
Pick a coin size so the maximum coin count stays within your session budget; the top prizes usually pay best at max coins.
Deal five cards and choose your holds. Unlike Jacks or Better, a low card can matter here if it could become a kicker.
Draw once. The game scores the final hand, including any kicker bonus.
Stop at the limit you set before you started, win or lose.
Holding decisions in this game are trickier than in Jacks or Better. Our video poker strategy guide explains why charts differ by variant.
Double Double Bonus RTP: what's published and what isn't
We couldn't find a published RTP for RealTime Gaming's Double Double Bonus Poker in the third-party sources we checked. SlotCatalog lists its release date and a 4,000x max win but no return. That's an honest gap, and we'd rather show it than guess.

All figures above are from SlotCatalog. The closest published number is Double Double Jackpot Poker at 98.98%, which adds a progressive jackpot and is a different game. Don't assume the two share a return. Read the pay screen of the exact game, and use Double Bonus Poker and Bonus Poker as reference points for the family.
Why Double Double Bonus swings harder than Jacks or Better
To pay for big kicker prizes, pay tables in this family usually give less back on the common hands. You can check this yourself by comparing the two pair line with the same line in Jacks or Better. The result is a game where long stretches of small losses are broken up by rare large hits.
That pattern is what players mean by high volatility. The average cost per hand might be similar to a calmer game, but the range of outcomes in a single session is much wider. The table uses the published 98.98% for Double Double Jackpot Poker as a reference, plus two hypothetical edges, to show how expected cost scales.
Expected loss over 500 hands at $1.25 ($625 wagered)
Expected loss is total wagered × house edge, so $625 × 1.02% is about $6.38. In a high-swing game the real result of one session can be many times that figure in either direction. Size your session so a losing streak doesn't push you to chase; our guide to a good bankroll helps.

If you want the steadier game with a published return, Jacks or Better is the reference. If the chase for four aces with a kicker is the fun for you, Double Double Bonus delivers it, at the cost of bigger swings and less published data. Our best video poker game page weighs those trade-offs, and the Deuces Wild explainer covers the wild-card branch of the family.
Playing Double Double Bonus with a casino bonus
Most welcome offers don't suit this game. SlotoCash's own terms list video poker among the games excluded from bonus play by default, even though its homepage names Double Double Bonus Poker among its titles. Miami Club's bonus terms count video poker at 10%, and Silver Oak's offer page sets 60x for video poker against 30x for slots.
At a 10% weighting, $1,000 of video poker clears only $100 of wagering. Check the game weighting rules before you opt in, and consider playing video poker without a bonus if the terms make it impractical.
Is online Double Double Bonus poker legal in the US?
Only seven states license real-money online casinos: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island. In those states, licensed sites can offer video poker under state rules. Maine legalized tribal online casinos in January 2026, but nothing had launched by October 2026.
Everywhere else, no state licenses online casinos. Our partners are offshore and not licensed or regulated by any US state, and some state regulators have acted against them; Michigan's board, for example, has sent cease-and-desist letters naming several. Read our page on offshore casino legality and check your own state's law.
Where to play Double Double Bonus: offers via our links
SlotoCash comes first because its own homepage names Double Double Bonus Poker. Silver Oak runs RTG and its terms allow video poker at 60x. Miami Club's own site lists a Video Poker category; it runs WGS (Wager Gaming) games, not RTG, and our sources don't name this title there, so check the casino's lobby at both. We replaced Decode, which was first suggested for this page, because our sources show no video poker at Decode. All three are offshore and not licensed by any US state; check your state's law first. Frequently asked questions
What does Double Double Bonus mean in video poker?
It names a Jacks or Better variant with two layers of four-of-a-kind bonuses. The first layer pays more for certain ranks, such as aces or 2s through 4s; the second, the "double double" part, pays extra again when a qualifying kicker comes with those quads. Everything below four of a kind works much like Jacks or Better. Our Double Double Bonus game guide covers RTG's version.
What is a kicker in Double Double Bonus?
A kicker is the fifth card next to a four of a kind. In this game it earns an extra bonus in two cases: four aces with a 2, 3 or 4, and four 2s, 3s or 4s with an ace, 2, 3 or 4. Four 5s through kings get no kicker bonus. That's why some hold decisions differ from Jacks or Better. Our kicker glossary entry explains the term.
What is the best hand in Double Double Bonus?
The royal flush is still the top prize, and SlotCatalog lists RTG's version with a 4,000x max win. Below it, four aces with a 2, 3 or 4 kicker is the standout hand and the one the game is known for. Exact prizes depend on the pay table, so check the pay screen. Our royal flush glossary entry explains the top hand.
What is the RTP of Double Double Bonus Poker?
We couldn't find a published RTP for RTG's Double Double Bonus Poker; SlotCatalog shows none. The related Double Double Jackpot Poker is listed at 98.98% by SlotCatalog, but it's a different game with a progressive jackpot, so don't assume the same return. The pay screen is the only reliable guide. See what RTP means to judge a figure when you find one.
Is Double Double Bonus harder than Jacks or Better?
Yes, a little. The basic rules are the same, but kickers change some holds, and the game's return is concentrated in rarer hands, so mistakes and bad runs feel bigger. Players who want a simple game with a published return often start with Jacks or Better and move on later. Our Jacks or Better explainer covers the simpler game.
Why do I lose faster at Double Double Bonus?
It can feel that way because the game pays less on common hands to fund big quad and kicker prizes. Between those rare hits, your balance tends to drift down more steadily than in Jacks or Better. That doesn't mean the game is rigged; it's the design. Set a firm session budget and consider deposit limits if losses start to bother you.
Can I use a welcome bonus on Double Double Bonus?
Usually only on poor terms. SlotoCash's own terms exclude video poker from bonus play by default, Miami Club counts video poker at 10%, and Silver Oak sets 60x for video poker against 30x for slots. Playing an excluded game with a bonus active can void winnings. Read our guide to video poker bonuses before you opt in.
Which software providers make Double Double Bonus?
Many studios offer a version. RealTime Gaming released one on July 1, 2016, according to SlotCatalog, and RTG games run at most of our partner casinos. Miami Club runs WGS (Wager Gaming) software instead, so its video poker comes from a different studio; check its lobby for this title. Our RealTime Gaming page covers RTG's catalog and history.
How much can I win on Double Double Bonus at $1.25 a hand?
At a $1.25 bet, SlotCatalog's listed 4,000x max win for RTG's Double Double Bonus Poker works out to $5,000. At $0.25 a hand the same multiple is $1,000, and at $5 it's $20,000. Those top prizes come from the rarest hands, and the size of each four-of-a-kind and kicker prize depends on the pay table in front of you, so read the pay screen before you play. Our Double Double Bonus game guide shows the hand groups, and how video poker works covers coins and bet sizes.
Is Double Double Bonus poker legal online in New Jersey?
Yes, at state-licensed sites. New Jersey licenses real-money online casinos through its Division of Gaming Enforcement, which listed nine internet gaming permits held by seven entities in its September 22, 2026 update. Licensed sites there can offer video poker under state rules. Offshore casinos, including our partners, hold no New Jersey license, so a player there would have no state regulator to complain to about them. Our New Jersey online casinos page covers the licensed market, and state-licensed online casino states lists the other six.
Is Double Double Bonus Poker in the SlotoCash lobby?
SlotoCash's own homepage names Double Double Bonus Poker among its games, so it's the clearest match among our partners. The catch is bonus play: SlotoCash's terms exclude video poker from bonus wagering by default, so you'd normally play it with cash rather than with welcome bonus funds. SlotoCash is offshore and not licensed by any US state, and Michigan's board named it in an October 8, 2026 cease-and-desist release. Read our SlotoCash video poker page and the full SlotoCash review before you sign up.
Can I play Double Double Bonus on my phone?
In most cases, yes, through a mobile browser. SlotoCash's site says no app or software is required and suggests adding a home-screen shortcut for instant play. Silver Oak's mobile page lists browser play on iPhone, Android and tablets, and Miami Club describes its site as available for mobile devices and desktop, with no app mentioned. None of these sources lists which video poker titles load on mobile, so check the lobby on your device. See our SlotoCash mobile page and Silver Oak mobile page for details.
Is Double Double Jackpot Poker the same as Double Double Bonus?
No. Double Double Jackpot Poker is a separate RTG game, released April 15, 2018 according to SlotCatalog, with a progressive jackpot attached. SlotCatalog lists it at 98.98% RTP and an 800x max win, while Double Double Bonus Poker dates from July 1, 2016, shows a 4,000x max win and has no published RTP. The names are close, but the pay tables and returns aren't interchangeable. Compare them on our Double Double Jackpot Poker page and the jackpot glossary entry.
What bankroll do I need for Double Double Bonus video poker?
There's no set figure, but a high-swing game like Double Double Bonus needs a bigger cushion than Jacks or Better for the same session length. Over 500 hands at $1.25, you wager $625; at house edges from 1.02% to 4%, the expected loss is about $6.38 to $25. Real sessions land far from that average, because so much of the return sits in rare quads and kickers. Only bring money you can afford to lose in full. Our guide to a good bankroll and our deposit limits page help you set one.
