Casino deposit match explained

A casino deposit match explained simply: the casino adds bonus money worth a percentage of your deposit, up to a cap, and you must wager a multiple before withdrawing. A 200% match on $50 adds $100. The catch is that wagering usually scales with the bonus, so a bigger percentage can raise the average cost rather than lower it.

Key takeaways

  • Bonus = deposit × match percentage, limited by a per-deposit cap.
  • Headline totals like $2,500 or $10,000 are usually spread over several deposits.
  • When wagering applies to deposit plus bonus, a larger match also means a larger wagering target.
  • If multiple × house edge is above 1, each extra bonus dollar adds more expected cost than value.
  • Minimum deposits, card fees and excluded games all change what a match is really worth.

How a casino deposit match works

A deposit match, or match bonus, is bonus money calculated as a percentage of what you deposit. A 100% match doubles a deposit, a 200% match triples the starting balance, and so on. Three numbers define every match: the percentage, the maximum bonus (the cap), and the minimum deposit that qualifies.

  1. You deposit an amount between the offer's minimum and the deposit size that hits its cap.
  2. The cashier applies the code or automatic offer and adds bonus = deposit × percentage.
  3. If that figure exceeds the cap, you get the cap instead.
  4. Your balance now holds your deposit plus the bonus, and the wagering clock starts.
  5. Once the wagering is met on eligible games, the remaining balance becomes withdrawable, subject to any max cashout.

The casino bonuses hub covers other offer types. If the percentages in ads confuse you, our answer on what a 300% bonus means is a quick primer.

Deposit match percentages in dollars

The table shows what common match percentages add to a $50 deposit, and what the wagering target becomes at 30x deposit plus bonus, a base that several offshore casinos use. The expected loss column assumes a slot with 96% RTP, which is an example figure, not a specific game.

Common deposit match percentages on a $50 deposit at 30x (deposit + bonus)
MatchBonusStarting balanceWagering targetExpected loss at 96% RTPBonus minus expected loss
100%$50$100$3,000$120−$70
200%$100$150$4,500$180−$80
275%$137.50$187.50$5,625$225−$87.50
400%$200$250$7,500$300−$100

Notice the last column gets worse as the match grows. At 30x with a 4% house edge, every dollar in the balance, deposit or bonus, needs $30 of bets that cost $1.20 on average, so the bonus can never cover the cost of clearing both. Even at 20x on a 96% slot, each dollar costs $0.80 to clear, and the offer only comes out ahead on average when the bonus is more than four times the deposit. Our bonus value calculator method shows the full formula.

Caps and multi-deposit match packages

Big welcome numbers are almost always the sum of several capped matches. Silver Oak's own site shows a $10,000 package built as a 100% match on each of the first ten deposits, with codes SILVEROAK1 to SILVEROAK10. Reaching the full amount means depositing ten times; each match is a separate bonus with its own wagering.

SlotoCash's site package works the same way across five deposits, mixing 200%, 100% and 177% matches. Our link's headline offers are different packages again: Silver Oak $2,500 + 50 free spins, Planet 7 $2,750 + 45 free spins and Decode $5,000 + 50 free spins. Follow the version the cashier shows when you sign up. The second deposit bonus page explains how later stages usually change.

A package total is a ceiling, not a target. Depositing more than you planned just to collect the next stage is a way to spend more, not to get value.

Deposit match packages worked out: SlotoCash vs Miami Club

Two partners publish multi-deposit match packages on their own sites, so you can price every stage. The examples assume $100 per deposit and a 96% RTP slot (4% house edge). Each stage is a separate bonus with its own wagering.

Two published match packages on $100 deposits (casinos' own terms)
PackageMatchesTotal bonusTotal wageringExpected loss at 4%
SlotoCash, five deposits at 25x (d+b)200%, 200%, 100%, 100%, 177%$777 + 300 spins$31,925$1,277
Miami Club, eight purchases at 20x (d+b)100% each, capped at $100$800$32,000$1,280

The SlotoCash working: the five stages leave $300, $300, $200, $200 and $277 in play, which adds to $1,277, and 25 × $1,277 = $31,925. Miami Club's eight stages each leave $200 in play, so 20 × $200 × 8 = $32,000. Despite different headline matches, both packages need about $32,000 of play and cost about the same on average, more than the bonus either way.

SlotoCash's codes run from SLOTO1MATCH to SLOTO5MATCH and must be claimed in order, with a $20 minimum per bonus. Miami Club runs WGS games, not RTG, and counts blackjack at 5%. Its Terms of Use (section 1.6) list the United States as prohibited, while the affiliate program confirms US players are accepted, so confirm at sign-up. The offers via our links differ from these site packages. See the Miami Club welcome bonus and our second deposit bonus guide.

Deposit plus bonus or bonus only: why the base matters

The same multiple can mean very different targets. Silver Oak's offer page states 30x, but its general terms give 40x for slots, keno, bingo and scratch cards, and 60x for table games and video poker. The multiples on their own don't tell you whether the multiple applies to the bonus alone or to deposit plus bonus, so the table shows both on a $100 deposit with a 100% match.

Silver Oak 100% match on $100: wagering under each reading of its terms
MultipleBonus-only base ($100)Deposit + bonus base ($200)
30x (offer page)$3,000$6,000
40x (general terms)$4,000$8,000
60x (blackjack, video poker)$6,000$12,000

The gap between $3,000 and $12,000 is why we tell readers to check the current terms in the cashier. Ask support which multiple and which base apply, and keep the reply. Our wagering requirements page covers the base question in depth.

Reported deposit matches at Planet 7 and Decode

Neither casino's terms could be read on its own site, so these are third-party reports. They're still useful for seeing how match offers are structured.

  • Planet 7, WELCOME200: LCB reports a 200% match at 30x deposit plus bonus on slots, a $1,000 max cashout, and that Banana Jones and Fish Catch can't be played with coupon funds. Card deposits are reported from $30 and Bitcoin Lightning from $5.
  • Decode, DECODE111: LCB reports 111% up to $1,111 at 25x deposit plus bonus with a $25 minimum.
  • Decode, EASY25CODE: LCB reports a 400% sign-up match at 35x deposit plus bonus, a $25 minimum and no max cashout.
  • Decode, other: VegasSlotsOnline reports a 500% match with 50 free spins on Johnny Cash at 30x, without a cap or minimum.

On a $100 deposit, Planet 7's reported 200% gives $300 to play with and a $9,000 target. The $1,000 cap means anything above that is removed when you cash out. See our Planet 7 welcome bonus and Decode welcome bonus pages for the latest notes.

Is the matched money sticky or cashable?

With a cashable (non-sticky) match, the bonus turns into real money once wagering is met. With a sticky bonus, the bonus amount itself is removed at withdrawal and only winnings above it can be cashed out. Some casinos also play your deposit first and the bonus second; others mix them.

None of the three casinos on this page states its approach in its published or reported terms, so ask support before depositing. A sticky $100 bonus on a $200 cleared balance would leave $100 to withdraw; a cashable one would leave $200. Our non-sticky bonus page explains the difference in more detail.

Minimum deposits and fees that change a match's value

A match is calculated on what lands in your account, so fees and minimums matter. Silver Oak's banking page lists card deposits from $30 to $1,000 with a 3–10% fee, and Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum from $30 with no fee. A 10% fee on a $100 card deposit is $10 gone before the match is even applied.

Cards also fail often at offshore casinos because of merchant code 7995. Our minimum deposits guide compares limits, and credit card gambling blocks explains declines. Some casinos run separate crypto matches; see our crypto bonus page.

How to compare two deposit match offers in five steps

Headline percentages are the least useful number in a match offer. Use this order instead, and the cheaper offer usually becomes obvious.

  1. Write down the deposit you planned to make anyway, and ignore any stage that needs more.
  2. Work out the bonus for that deposit, applying the cap if there is one.
  3. Multiply the base (deposit plus bonus, or bonus only) by the multiple to get total wagering.
  4. Multiply total wagering by the house edge of the slot you'd play, then subtract that from the bonus.
  5. Check the max cashout, max bet and eligible games, and mark down any offer whose terms conflict between pages.

On a $100 deposit, Decode's reported DECODE111 (111% at 25x) needs $5,275 of play, while a 200% match at 30x needs $9,000, so the smaller match is the lighter load. Our 200% match bonus and 400% match bonus pages run the same steps on bigger percentages. Our guide to comparing casino bonuses adds non-math factors such as payout speed and weekly caps.

Deposit match red flags to watch for

  • A wagering multiple that differs between the offer page and the general terms, as with Silver Oak's 30x and 40x.
  • A max cashout tied to the deposit, such as a reported 10x deposit cap at Royal Ace.
  • A large match paired with a high multiple, which the table above shows costs more on average.
  • Game exclusions that cover popular titles or whole categories.
  • No stated expiry, which leaves the deadline to the casino's discretion.

Our bonus terms red flags page lists more, with what to ask support about each.

Deposit match bonuses and US law

Decode, Silver Oak and Planet 7 are offshore and not licensed by any US state. Silver Oak publishes an Anjouan license through Primrose Media Limited; Planet 7's license is reported variously as Costa Rica or none, and Decode's as Curaçao by reviewers but not shown on its site. The Michigan Gaming Control Board named Silver Oak and Planet 7 among 13 illegal offshore operators sent cease-and-desist letters on April 9, 2025 (opens in a new tab).

That matters for bonuses because there's no state regulator to hear a dispute over voided winnings. Read our page on cease-and-desist letters and check your own state's law before signing up anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

What is a casino deposit match?

A casino deposit match is bonus money equal to a percentage of your deposit, up to a set cap. A 100% match on $100 adds $100, and a 200% match adds $200. You must meet a wagering requirement before the bonus and its winnings can be withdrawn. Our match bonus page and the match bonus glossary entry cover the basics.

How is a 200% deposit match calculated?

Multiply your deposit by two to get the bonus, up to the offer's cap. A $50 deposit gets a $100 bonus, for $150 in total. If wagering is 30x deposit plus bonus, you then need $4,500 in bets. Planet 7's WELCOME200 is reported at 200% with 30x on slots and a $1,000 max cashout. Our 200% match bonus page has more examples.

Is a 400% match better than a 100% match?

Not automatically, because wagering usually grows with the bonus. At 30x deposit plus bonus with a 4% house edge, a 100% match on $50 prices at about −$70 and a 400% match at about −$100. Bigger matches give more playtime, but at a higher average cost. Compare the multiple and base, not just the percentage. See our 400% match bonus page.

What is the cap on a deposit match?

The cap is the largest bonus a single deposit can earn, whatever the match percentage. Once your deposit reaches the cap, depositing more adds no extra bonus. Decode's DECODE111 is reported at 111% up to $1,111, so deposits above about $1,001 don't increase the bonus. Our welcome bonus guide explains how caps stack across packages.

Can I withdraw my deposit before clearing a match bonus?

Usually not without forfeiting the bonus, since many casinos lock the deposit with the bonus until wagering is complete. Rules differ, so ask support before you play. If you'd rather keep access to your deposit, skipping the bonus may suit you better. Our answer on withdrawing a bonus and the bonus vs no bonus page explain the trade-off.

Why do welcome packages say $2,500 or $10,000?

Those totals are usually the sum of several capped matches across multiple deposits. Silver Oak's site package, for example, is a 100% match on each of the first ten deposits. You only reach the total by depositing many times, each with its own wagering. Treat the figure as a ceiling. Our big welcome bonus list shows how packages are split.

Do table games count toward deposit match wagering?

Often they don't, or they carry a higher multiple. Silver Oak lists 60x for blackjack and video poker against 30x or 40x for slots, and excludes roulette, baccarat and craps. Planet 7 is reported to bar two specialty games from coupon funds. Always read the eligible games list. Our game weighting page explains the variations.

Are deposit match bonuses at offshore casinos legal?

The bonus itself isn't the legal question; whether you can play at an offshore casino depends on your state's law. Only seven states license online casinos, and the casinos here aren't licensed by any US state. Michigan's regulator has sent cease-and-desist letters to offshore operators, including Silver Oak and Planet 7. See offshore casino legality for details.

What is the minimum deposit for a deposit match bonus?

Most partner deposit matches start at $20 to $30, though the exact figure depends on the code. SlotoCash's welcome terms set $20 per bonus. Silver Oak doesn't state a minimum on its offer page, but its banking page starts deposits at $30. Third-party reviews report $25 for Decode's match codes, $30 for Slot Madness's MAD275 and $30 for card deposits at Planet 7, with Lightning Bitcoin from $5. The bonus minimum can be higher than the cashier minimum, so check both. Our answer on the minimum deposit covers more.

What is SlotoCash's first deposit match?

SlotoCash's first deposit match is 200% with 100 free spins under code SLOTO1MATCH, per the casino's own bonus list. Its welcome terms set 25x deposit plus bonus, a $20 minimum, a $10 max bet and no max cashout, on slots, keno and scratch cards. The cap per deposit isn't stated on the site; LCB lists it as $2,000. The bonus list names Charms of the Forest for the spins, while the homepage FAQ names Cleopatra's Gold, so check the cashier. Our SlotoCash welcome bonus page covers all five stages.

Can I get a deposit match on every deposit?

Often yes, through reload codes and daily offers, but each one carries fresh wagering. SlotoCash's promotions page lists rotating coded matches such as SUPERFRIDAY at 99% plus 99 spins ($30 minimum, 27x) and SLOTOJACKPOT at 50% up to $500 ($25 minimum, 15x). Miami Club lists a Daily Deposit Bonus of 20% to 45%. Codes change, so use the one the cashier shows that day, and remember a match on every deposit means wagering on every deposit. See our reload bonus guide.

What does an unlimited deposit match mean?

An unlimited match has no cap on the bonus, so the match percentage applies to the whole deposit. SlotoCash's promotions page lists SLOTONOLIMITS as a 75% unlimited match plus 50 spins, with a $25 minimum and 25x wagering. Sources disagree on Slot Madness: casino.guru calls its 275% offer unlimited, while LCB caps it at $2,750. No cap on the bonus doesn't mean no limits on withdrawals, and weekly payout caps still apply. Our unlimited match bonus page explains the catches.

Does a deposit match work differently for crypto deposits?

Standard matches usually apply to any deposit method, but some casinos add crypto-only matches and cut fees for coins. SlotoCash's promotions page lists BLOCKFALL-1, a 100% match plus $50 on crypto deposits, with a $25 minimum and 27x wagering. Silver Oak's VIP page lists Bitcoin bonuses of 325% to 400% against 250% to 325% for standard VIP deposit bonuses. Silver Oak also charges 3% to 10% on card deposits and nothing on crypto, so a coin deposit keeps more of your money. See our guide to crypto casino bonuses.

Can I get a deposit match bonus in California?

No state-licensed online casino in California offers a deposit match, because the state doesn't license online casinos or sports betting. California has 60 tribal casinos and 91 cardrooms, but online casino play isn't legal there, and sweepstakes casinos were banned from January 1, 2026 under AB 831, as reported by third-party sources. Our partners are offshore and hold no California license. Players in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Jose should check state law first. Read our California casino bonuses page for more.
