Casino non-sticky bonus guide

A casino non-sticky bonus keeps your deposit and the bonus apart: you play with your own money first, and if you win before touching the bonus, you can usually withdraw and walk away by giving the bonus up. Only if your cash runs out does the bonus take over. This guide shows why that order matters in dollars and how to confirm it in the terms.

Key takeaways

  • Non-sticky ("parachute") bonuses use your deposit first, so an early win can usually be cashed out by forfeiting the bonus.
  • That exit makes a non-sticky bonus worth more than an equal sticky one.
  • Few offshore casinos label bonuses non-sticky; none of our partners' published terms do.
  • Partner casinos are offshore and not licensed by any US state; check your state's law first.

What a casino non-sticky bonus means

With a non-sticky bonus, your account effectively holds two balances: real money and bonus money. Bets come out of the real-money balance first. The bonus sits untouched until that balance is used up, and only then do bonus funds, and their wagering rules, come into play.

The upshot is an exit. Hit a good win on your own cash and you can usually withdraw it, giving up the bonus, without completing any wagering. That's why some players call it a parachute bonus. The non-sticky bonus definition in our glossary has the one-line version, and our casino bonuses hub covers the formats that can be built this way.

Terms differ. Some casinos lock the deposit to the bonus from the first bet even when they call the offer cashable, so the label alone doesn't settle it.

How deposit-first play works, in order

  1. You deposit $100 and receive a $100 bonus, held in a separate bonus balance.
  2. Your bets are taken from the $100 real-money balance.
  3. If you're ahead, you may request a withdrawal; the bonus is canceled and the real-money balance is paid, subject to verification.
  4. If the real-money balance runs out, the $100 bonus becomes active and the wagering clock starts.
  5. Once wagering is complete, any balance left can be withdrawn, subject to any max cashout in the terms.

Compare that with a sticky bonus, where deposit and bonus usually form one balance tied to the wagering from the first spin, and the bonus amount is removed when you cash out.

Casino non-sticky bonus scenarios in dollars

Same starting point each time: $100 deposit, $100 bonus, 30x wagering on the bonus only ($3,000 in bets once the bonus is live).

Outcomes under non-sticky vs sticky rules ($100 deposit + $100 bonus)
What happensNon-sticky resultSticky result

Bonus finishes at $250 after wageringUp to $250, minus any max cashoutAbout $150 after $100 is removed

The early-win row is where non-sticky pulls ahead. You keep the full upside of your deposit and still have the bonus as a second chance if things go badly. The expected value of a bonus guide shows how to put a number on that second chance.

Why a non-sticky bonus is usually worth more

Think of the bonus as insurance on your deposit. Under non-sticky rules, wagering costs only bite in the sessions where you lose your own cash first. If the bonus goes live, clearing $3,000 at a 4% slot edge costs $120 on average, more than the $100 bonus, so the bonus mainly buys extra play time. When your deposit wins, none of that cost applies.

Under sticky rules, every session carries the full wagering cost and the bonus amount comes off the payout. That's why two offers with the same match and multiple can be worth very different amounts. Use our comparing casino bonuses checklist to weigh them side by side.

Catches that still apply to non-sticky offers

  • Max cashout. A cap on winnings from the bonus still applies once it's live. Review sites report $1,000 on Planet 7's welcome offer and 10x the deposit at Royal Ace.
  • Max bet while the bonus is pending. Some casinos apply bonus bet limits as soon as the bonus is credited, even before it's active.
  • Withdrawal caps. Weekly limits of $2,500 are reported at Planet 7, Royal Ace and Slot Madness, so a big early win may be paid in installments.
  • Excluded games. Playing a game excluded from the bonus can void it, and sometimes the deposit winnings too, depending on the terms.
  • Forfeit wording. Requesting a withdrawal usually cancels the bonus; check whether a canceled withdrawal restores it.

The bonus terms red flags list and our weekly withdrawal limits guide go deeper on each.

Non-sticky status at our partner casinos

Plainly: none of our partners' published or reported terms say their bonuses are non-sticky. The table shows what is on record, with source types; review listings such as LCB's Slot Madness page (opens in a new tab) supply most of the third-party figures. Silver Oak's terms state the opposite for its deposit bonuses, which are non-cashable.

A wagering base of deposit plus bonus, as reported for Planet 7, Royal Ace and Slot Madness, suggests the deposit is tied to the bonus from the start, which is how sticky-style offers usually work. That is an inference, not a published rule, so confirm with support. Details are in our Planet 7 review, Royal Ace review and Slot Madness review.

Partner terms that shape how a deposit and bonus interact

Even where no partner calls its bonus non-sticky, several published rules decide what happens to your deposit when a bonus is involved. These are the ones worth knowing before you choose between a bonus and plain cash.

Published partner rules on deposits, bonuses and withdrawals

Taken together, these rules show why asking about order matters. A player who deposits $100 at Silver Oak without a code and plays it through once avoids both the bonus terms and the 8% fee. Our Silver Oak bonus codes and SlotoCash welcome bonus pages set out the full terms, and the cashback bonus guide covers the Silver Oak deal.

How to confirm a bonus is non-sticky before you deposit

  1. Search the bonus terms for "cashable", "non-cashable", "real money first" and "forfeit".
  2. Check the wagering base: "deposit plus bonus" usually means the two are tied together.
  3. Ask live chat directly: "If I win with my deposit before using the bonus, can I withdraw and forfeit the bonus?"
  4. Save the chat transcript or ask for the answer by email.
  5. If the answer is unclear, deposit without the bonus code and keep full control of your balance.

Non-sticky bonuses, offshore casinos and US law

In New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island, state-licensed online casinos operate under a regulator that can review promotions and handle complaints. Elsewhere, no state licenses online casinos, and US-facing offshore sites write their own bonus rules. See states with legal online casinos.

The partners on this page are offshore and not licensed by any US state, so a dispute about whether a bonus was cashable has no state regulator behind it. Michigan's Gaming Control Board named Planet 7 in its April 9, 2025 release (opens in a new tab) and Slot Madness in its August 14, 2025 release (opens in a new tab) as illegal offshore operators. Check your state on our states hub.

Frequently asked questions

What does non-sticky mean on a casino bonus?

A non-sticky bonus is one where your deposit is played first and kept separate from the bonus, so you can usually withdraw winnings from your own money by forfeiting the bonus. The bonus only becomes active if your cash runs out. It is sometimes called a parachute bonus. Our non-sticky bonus glossary entry has the short definition.

What is the difference between sticky and non-sticky bonuses?

A sticky bonus can't be withdrawn and is deducted at cashout, while a non-sticky bonus lets you play your deposit first and leave early by forfeiting the bonus. Non-sticky offers are usually worth more because the wagering cost applies only if you lose your deposit. Read our sticky bonus guide for the other side.

Can I withdraw my deposit winnings with a non-sticky bonus?

Usually yes, as long as you haven't started playing with bonus funds. You request a withdrawal, the bonus is canceled, and the real-money balance is paid after verification. Weekly withdrawal limits, verification checks and any fees still apply, so a large win may arrive in installments rather than all at once. See how to withdraw from an online casino for the process.

Do any US-facing offshore casinos offer non-sticky bonuses?

Some casinos advertise them, but none of our partners' published or reported terms label a bonus non-sticky. Silver Oak's terms say its deposit bonus is non-cashable, which is the sticky model. Ask support how the deposit and bonus interact before depositing. Our best non-sticky bonus casinos list ranks partners for this topic.

Is a non-sticky bonus the same as a no-wagering bonus?

No. A non-sticky bonus still has wagering once the bonus is live; it just lets you leave before that point if your deposit wins. A no-wagering bonus has no playthrough at all and is usually small, so the two solve different problems: one gives you an exit, the other removes the rollover. Our no wagering bonus page covers that format.

Can a non-sticky bonus carry a max cashout?

It can. A cap on winnings from the bonus may apply once the bonus is in play, even if your early deposit wins aren't capped. Review sites report a $1,000 max cashout on Planet 7's welcome offer and 10x the deposit at Royal Ace. Our max cashout rules page explains how caps work.

Does wagering on deposit plus bonus mean the bonus is sticky?

Not always, but it's a strong hint that the deposit is tied to the bonus from the first bet. Non-sticky offers normally apply wagering to the bonus, or to bonus winnings, once the bonus is live. Treat this as a reason to ask support, not as proof. Our bonus wagering requirements page explains the bases.

Should I take a non-sticky bonus or play without one?

If the bonus is genuinely non-sticky and you're happy with the terms, it's usually better than playing without one, because it adds a second chance at no cost when your deposit wins. If the structure is unclear, playing without a bonus keeps things simple. Compare both paths on bonus vs no bonus.

Is Planet 7's welcome bonus sticky or non-sticky?

Planet 7 doesn't publish whether its bonus is sticky or non-sticky, and the reviews we rely on don't say either. Third-party listings report its WELCOME200 code as a 200% match at 30x deposit plus bonus on slots, with a $1,000 max cashout, which points to the deposit being tied to the bonus. The same listings say Banana Jones and Fish Catch can't be played with coupon funds. Ask live chat whether you can withdraw deposit winnings before the bonus is used. Our Planet 7 welcome bonus page has the full reported terms.

Is Royal Ace's bonus non-sticky?

Royal Ace's terms aren't published in a form that says, so treat the bonus as tied to your deposit until support confirms otherwise. Sources disagree on the offer itself: LCB lists 200% up to $4,000 at 30x deposit plus bonus on slots, while Casino Guru lists 250% up to $2,500 plus 35 spins. LCB also reports a cap of 10x the deposit on winnings, and third-party reports say Royal Ace doesn't accept Ohio players. Our Royal Ace welcome bonus page tracks both versions.

Can I deposit without taking the bonus?

Yes, at most partners you skip a bonus simply by not entering its code, since SlotoCash and Silver Oak use cashier coupons. Playing without a bonus removes wagering and max cashout rules, but check the fine print on unplayed deposits: Silver Oak's banking terms charge 8% (minimum $4) if a deposit isn't wagered at least once before withdrawal. Silver Oak also pays 30% to 50% cashback on deposits over $1,000 made without a bonus. Our Silver Oak withdrawals page lists the fees and limits.

Is a non-sticky bonus good for blackjack players?

Only partly, because the exit route helps but the bonus itself usually doesn't suit table games. Under true non-sticky rules, you play blackjack with your own cash first and can withdraw a win before the bonus goes live. Once it's active, though, the rules bite: Royal Ace is reported at 60x for blackjack, and SlotoCash's default terms exclude table games from bonus play. Many blackjack players do better without a bonus. Our best blackjack casinos list compares the partners for table play.

Are non-sticky bonuses available in Michigan?

Michigan licenses online casinos, so any bonus offered there legally comes from one of its state-approved operators, not an offshore site. The Michigan Gaming Control Board lists 15 authorized online casino platform providers under the Lawful Internet Gaming Act of 2019, and those operators publish their own promotions under its rules. The board has sent cease-and-desist letters to offshore brands including Planet 7 and Slot Madness, calling them illegal offshore operators. Read our Michigan online casino guide for the licensed options.

Do non-sticky bonuses work with crypto deposits?

They can, because the order of play depends on the bonus terms, not the payment method. If a crypto bonus is non-sticky, your Bitcoin deposit is played first, as with a card deposit. Crypto offers often carry their own terms: SlotoCash's BLOCKFALL-1 crypto bonus is a 100% match plus $50 free at 27x with a $25 minimum. Lightning Bitcoin deposits start at $5 at several partners, which may be below a bonus minimum. Our crypto casino bonus page and Bitcoin banking guide explain the rules.

Does Slot Madness offer a non-sticky bonus?

Slot Madness doesn't state it anywhere we could find, so assume its bonuses are tied to your deposit until support says otherwise. Third-party listings report its MAD275 welcome at 30x deposit plus bonus on slots, with a $30 minimum and no max cashout, and a 2025 review lists MAD125, a 125% code usable on table games and video poker at 40x. With no cap on MAD275, the deposit-first question matters less than the rollover itself. Ask live chat before you deposit, and see our Slot Madness bonus codes page for each code's reported terms.
