Casino match bonus guide

A casino match bonus adds a percentage of your deposit as bonus money, so a 200% match on $100 gives you $200 extra to play with, subject to wagering. This guide shows how the match rate, the cap and the wagering base combine, what different deposit sizes cost to clear at offshore casinos serving US players, and when a bigger percentage is the worse deal.

Key takeaways

  • Bonus = deposit × match rate, up to a cap; the cap sets the deposit that gets the full bonus.
  • When wagering applies to deposit plus bonus, total bets grow with both the match rate and the deposit.
  • Higher match rates often come with higher wagering multiples or tighter caps.
  • Our partners are offshore and not licensed by any US state, so check your state’s law first.

How a casino match bonus works

A casino match bonus is calculated as a percentage of the amount you deposit. A 100% match doubles your deposit with bonus money, a 200% match triples your starting balance and a 275% match nearly quadruples it. The phrase “up to” sets the most bonus you can get, however much you deposit.

The bonus is locked by a wagering requirement. At most offshore RTG casinos that requirement is a multiple of the deposit plus the bonus, not the bonus alone, which is why a big match can mean a very large amount of play. Our deposit match explained page covers the basics, and the casino bonuses hub shows how match offers compare with other types.

Match rate in plain dollars on a $100 deposit
Match rateBonus addedStarting balanceWagering at 30x deposit + bonus
100%$100$200$6,000
177%$177$277$8,310
200%$200$300$9,000
275%$275$375$11,250
400%$400$500$15,000

Casino match bonus math: the formula

Three short formulas cover every match offer. Write the deposit as D, the match rate as m (200% = 2), the wagering multiple as W and the house edge as E.

  • Bonus = D × m, up to the cap.
  • Total wagering on deposit + bonus = W × (D + bonus). On bonus only, it’s W × bonus.
  • Expected cost of clearing = total wagering × E.

For E we use 3.75%, the edge on RTG’s Sweet 16 at the 96.25% RTP a third-party catalog lists. A $100 deposit with a 200% match at 30x deposit plus bonus gives $9,000 in bets and an expected cost of $337.50, more than the $300 starting balance. That doesn’t mean you’ll lose it all, because slot results swing widely, but it’s the average outcome. The expected value of a bonus guide adds volatility to the picture.

Match bonus rates at our partner casinos

Here are the match rates published or reported for each partner, with the source type. Four of the seven publish terms on their own sites; for the others, review sites are the only source and sometimes disagree.

SlotoCash doesn’t state per-deposit dollar caps on its own site. A third-party listing gives 200% up to $2,000 for each of the first two codes and 100% up to $1,000 for the third. Check the cashier before depositing a large amount.

How much to deposit for a match bonus

Divide the cap by the match rate to find the deposit that collects the full bonus: $2,750 ÷ 2.75 = $1,000 at Slot Madness’s reported 275%, and $4,000 ÷ 2 = $2,000 for Royal Ace’s reported 200%. Depositing more adds no extra bonus. Depositing less shrinks both the bonus and the wagering.

Slot Madness 275% at 30x deposit + bonus (third-party terms)
DepositBonusDeposit + bonusTotal wageringExpected cost at 3.75%
$30 (reported minimum)$82.50$112.50$3,375$126.56

$1,000 (full cap)$2,750$3,750$112,500$4,218.75

The full-cap row asks for $112,500 in bets. That is the scale of play a “maximum” match commits you to. A deposit you can afford to lose outright is the right size, whatever the cap allows. Our how much should I deposit answer and the gambling budget guide help set that figure.

Why a higher match rate can be the worse deal

Casinos often balance a big percentage with a bigger multiple. Third-party reviews of Decode show the pattern: 111% at 25x, a 400% sign-up code at 35x, and a 250% seasonal code at 50x (listed as running to October 31, 2026, so now expired). The same $100 deposit gives very different results.

111% at 25x deposit + bonus$111$5,275$197.81

250% at 50x (expired seasonal code; base not stated, deposit + bonus shown)$250$17,500$656.25

Miami Club’s own bonus terms put the rule in writing: 20x deposit plus bonus for matches of 100% or less, 30x above 100%. Miami Club is a live partner of ours: its Terms of Use (v2.1, September 28, 2026, section 1.6) list the United States as a prohibited jurisdiction, while its affiliate program confirms US players are accepted, so confirm eligibility at sign-up. Its tiering shows how operators price bigger matches.

Match bonus comparison: four offers on the same $200 deposit

Comparing match bonuses by percentage alone hides the real cost. The table runs one $200 deposit through four partner offers, using their published or reported terms and the 3.75% house edge used above. Caps are applied where they're stated.

Royal Ace, 200% at 30x$400$18,000$67510x deposit ($2,000)Third-party

Miami Club's small cap makes its offer the cheapest to clear: $300 × 20 = $6,000. The two 200% matches add the most money but also the most wagering, and Royal Ace's reported 10x cap would stop any withdrawal from that bonus at $2,000. Silver Oak's conflict changes its cost by $150, which is why asking support matters. Read the Miami Club review for its eligibility note, and the best welcome bonus casinos list for the ranked view.

“Up to” caps, unlimited matches and max cashout

An “unlimited” match has no ceiling on the bonus, but that also means no ceiling on the wagering. A third-party review calls Slot Madness’s 275% unlimited, while another lists a $2,750 cap. SlotoCash’s promotions page lists SLOTONOLIMITS as a 75% unlimited match plus 50 spins with a $25 minimum and 25x.

A max cashout limits what you keep after wagering. Royal Ace is reported to cap welcome winnings at 10x the deposit, so a $100 deposit can’t pay out more than $1,000. Planet 7’s 200% match is listed by a review site with a $1,000 cap. SlotoCash’s own site states no max cashout on its welcome bonus. See max cashout rules and the unlimited match bonus page.

Common match bonus mistakes to avoid

  • Depositing to the cap. The cap is a ceiling, not a target; the wagering grows with every extra dollar.
  • Skipping the code. At SlotoCash a missed coupon, or a bet placed before redeeming it, can lose the match.
  • Claiming out of order. Multi-deposit packages such as SlotoCash's five stages must be claimed in sequence.
  • Playing the wrong games. Progressives are excluded at SlotoCash, and roulette is barred at Silver Oak and forbidden at Miami Club while a bonus is active.
  • Ignoring the max bet. SlotoCash's welcome cap is $10 a spin; Miami Club's is $10 a wager and $2 per pay-line.
  • Requesting a withdrawal mid-bonus. That can forfeit the match and its winnings.

Each of these voids more bonuses than bad luck does. Our bonus terms red flags checklist and how to clear a casino bonus guide show how to plan around them.

How to choose a casino match bonus

  1. Confirm what your state’s law says on our state pages and that you meet the age rule.
  2. Set your deposit from your budget first, not from the bonus cap.
  3. Work out the bonus: deposit × match rate, up to the cap.
  4. Work out total wagering: multiple × (deposit + bonus), or × bonus if the terms say bonus only.
  5. Multiply by the house edge of the slots you’ll play to get the expected cost.
  6. Check the max cashout, max bet, eligible games and expiry.
  7. If the expected cost is above the bonus, or you mainly play table games, consider playing without a bonus.

Our comparing casino bonuses guide puts these steps into a worksheet, and the bonus vs no bonus page shows when skipping the match is cheaper.

Which games clear a match bonus

Match bonuses at RTG casinos are slot-first. SlotoCash’s welcome terms count slots (except progressive jackpot slots), keno and scratch cards, and its general terms exclude table games, video poker and specialty games by default. Silver Oak sets 60x for blackjack and video poker and bars roulette, baccarat and craps. Royal Ace is reported at 60x for blackjack and video poker.

At 60x deposit plus bonus, a $100 deposit with a $200 match needs $18,000 in blackjack bets. That makes table play a slow and costly way to clear a match. Read game weighting for how each game counts.

Match bonuses and US gambling law

State-licensed match bonuses exist only in the seven states that license online casinos: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Everywhere else, a match offer comes from an offshore casino not licensed by any US state, with no state regulator to hear a dispute and no state protection of your balance.

No license on Royal Ace’s or Slot Madness’s own sites could be confirmed; third parties report Costa Rica, Anjouan, Curaçao or none, and give different operators. SlotoCash is widely reported as a Deckmedia N.V. brand. Michigan’s Gaming Control Board ordered Slot Madness to stop serving the state in its August 14, 2025 release (opens in a new tab) and named SlotoCash on October 8, 2026 (opens in a new tab), calling them illegal offshore operators. Read our player protections offshore vs licensed page for what that means.

Frequently asked questions

What is a casino match bonus?

A casino match bonus is bonus money equal to a percentage of your deposit, up to a set limit. A 200% match on $100 adds $200, giving a $300 balance. The bonus must be wagered a set number of times before withdrawal, usually on deposit plus bonus at offshore RTG casinos. Our glossary entry on match bonus gives the short definition.

What does 200% match up to $4,000 mean?

It means the casino adds twice your deposit as bonus money, until the bonus reaches $4,000. A $100 deposit gets $200; a $2,000 deposit gets the full $4,000, and anything above that adds nothing. This is the welcome offer one third-party review reports for Royal Ace. Check the wagering before choosing a deposit. Our 200% match bonus page has more examples.

Is a 400% match bonus worth it?

Usually less than it looks. Decode’s 400% code is reported by a review site at 35x deposit plus bonus, which means $17,500 in bets on a $100 deposit and an expected cost of $656.25 at a 3.75% house edge. That’s more than the $500 balance. A smaller match at a lower multiple often leaves more. Compare on our 400% match bonus page.

Does wagering apply to the deposit or the bonus?

It depends on the terms, and it makes a large difference. SlotoCash’s own terms apply 25x to deposit plus bonus, and third-party reviews report the same base at Royal Ace, Slot Madness and Planet 7. On a 200% match, deposit plus bonus is three times the deposit, so wagering is 1.5 times what it would be on the bonus alone. Read wagering requirements explained.

Can I play blackjack with a match bonus?

Often only at a much higher multiple, if at all. Silver Oak’s terms set 60x for blackjack and video poker, Royal Ace is reported at 60x, and SlotoCash’s welcome terms void winnings from games outside slots, keno and scratch cards. Using bonus money on excluded games can cancel the bonus. See the best bonus for blackjack page before opting in.

What is the difference between a match bonus and a reload bonus?

A match bonus is the calculation, a percentage of your deposit; a reload is when you get it. Welcome matches apply to your first deposits, while reloads are match offers on later deposits, such as SlotoCash’s coded weekend matches. Reloads often have lower match rates and different multiples. Our reload bonus guide compares the two.

Should I deposit the maximum to get the full match?

Only if you can afford to lose that amount outright. Getting Slot Madness’s reported full $2,750 match means a $1,000 deposit and $112,500 in wagering at 30x deposit plus bonus. A smaller deposit gives a smaller bonus but also far less wagering and risk. Set the deposit from your budget first. Our bankroll management guide explains how.

Are match bonuses at offshore casinos legal for US players?

The bonus isn’t the legal question; the casino is. Only seven states license real-money online casinos, and offshore casinos aren’t licensed by any of them. Michigan’s regulator has ordered several offshore brands, including Slot Madness and SlotoCash, to stop serving the state. Check your own state’s law on our are online casinos legal in the US page.

What is the minimum deposit for a casino match bonus?

Most partner match bonuses start at $20 to $30. SlotoCash's welcome terms set $20 per bonus, third-party reviews report a $30 minimum on Slot Madness's 275% match, and Royal Ace's reported casino minimums are $30 for cards and $5 for Lightning Bitcoin. Silver Oak's banking page says deposits start at $30. A deposit below the stated minimum won't trigger the match, so check the code's own figure in the cashier first. Our minimum deposit answer explains how minimums differ by method.

Can I get a match bonus with a Bitcoin deposit?

Yes, and some partners run crypto-only matches alongside their card offers. SlotoCash's promotions page lists BLOCKFALL-1, a crypto 100% match plus $50 free with a $25 minimum and 27x wagering. Miami Club advertises a Lightning Bitcoin deposit bonus from $5, and Silver Oak's VIP page lists Bitcoin bonuses of 325% to 400% at higher tiers. Crypto codes carry their own terms, so read them separately from the welcome offer. Our crypto bonus guide and Bitcoin deposit steps cover the details.

When is a match bonus credited to my account?

A match bonus is normally credited when the qualifying deposit lands, as long as you entered the code at the right moment. SlotoCash's welcome terms say to redeem the coupon before depositing or straight after, before any wager, and to claim its five bonuses in order. Placing a bet first can mean the code no longer applies. If the bonus doesn't appear, contact support before playing. Our answer on how a bonus is paid walks through cashier codes and automatic credits.

What happens to a match bonus if my balance runs out?

If your balance drops to almost nothing, the bonus usually ends and the wagering requirement goes with it. Miami Club's bonus terms say a balance below $1 clears the wagering, so you can start fresh with a new deposit. Other casinos word this differently, and some let a new deposit carry the old requirement forward, so ask support before depositing again. Treat the end of a balance as the end of the session. Our page on whether you can cancel a bonus covers forfeiting a match early.

Is Silver Oak's match bonus wagering 30x or 40x?

Silver Oak's own site gives both figures, so treat the higher one as possible. Its offer page states 30x playthrough with 60x on blackjack and video poker, while its terms list 40x on slots, keno, bingo and scratch cards and 60x on table games. On a $100 deposit with the 100% match, that's $6,000 or $8,000 in slot bets. The package is a 100% match on each of ten deposits with codes SILVEROAK1 to SILVEROAK10. Ask support which applies, and see our Silver Oak welcome bonus page.

Can I claim a match bonus in Ohio?

Ohio doesn't license online casinos, so any match bonus you see there comes from an offshore site. Ohio's HB 298 would allow online casinos at its 11 casinos and racinos but was still pending in 2026. The Ohio Casino Control Commission says illegal sites offer no consumer protections, and third-party reports say Royal Ace and Slot Madness don't accept Ohio players. The state's Problem Gambling Helpline is 1-800-589-9966. Read our Ohio online casino guide before deciding.
