Bonus wagering requirements tell you how much you must bet before bonus money, and anything won with it, can be withdrawn. A $100 bonus with 30x playthrough on deposit plus bonus can mean $6,000 or more in bets, and the house edge takes a cut of every one. Here is how to turn any multiplier into dollars before you opt in.

What bonus wagering requirements actually mean
A wagering requirement, also called playthrough or rollover, is the amount you have to bet before a casino lets you cash out bonus funds. It is written as a multiplier, such as 25x or 30x, and the casino applies it to a base it defines in its bonus terms.
Until you reach the total, your balance is locked to the bonus rules: eligible games only, a maximum bet per spin and, at some casinos, a cap on what you can withdraw. Request a payout early and most terms let the casino remove the bonus and the winnings that came from it.
Casinos attach bonus wagering requirements because a deposit match bonus would otherwise be cash handed out for nothing. Forcing the money through many bets lets the house edge recover most or all of it. That is the honest starting point for every offer on this page and across our casino bonuses hub.
Wagering on deposit plus bonus vs bonus only
The single most important word in any playthrough clause is the base. Offshore casinos that run RealTime Gaming software usually apply the multiplier to deposit plus bonus, often shortened to (d+b). That doubles or triples the real work compared with a bonus-only requirement of the same number.
Same multiplier, different base: $100 deposit, 200% match ($200 bonus)

A lower number on a bigger base can still be the heavier load. Always rewrite the clause as a dollar figure before comparing two offers, and check our bonus terms red flags list for wording that hides the base.
How to calculate a wagering requirement in five steps
Find the multiplier and the base in the bonus terms (for example "25x deposit + bonus").
Add up the base in dollars: a $100 deposit with a 200% match gives $100 + $200 = $300.
Multiply: $300 × 25 = $7,500 of total bets.
Check which games count and at what rate; a game counting at half rate doubles the bets you need on it.
Estimate the cost: total wagering × house edge. On a slot listed at 96.25% RTP, the edge is 3.75%, so $7,500 × 3.75% ≈ $281.
That last step is the one most bonus pages skip. If the expected cost is bigger than the bonus, the offer has negative expected value for a player who plays it through to the end. Our bonus value calculator method walks through the same sum with more variables.

Silver Oak is a good example of why you read the full terms. Its new-member page says 30x playthrough, while its terms and conditions list 40x for slots, keno, bingo and scratch cards. On a $100 deposit with a 100% match, applied to deposit plus bonus, that gap is $6,000 versus $8,000 of betting. Ask support which figure applies and keep the answer in writing.
Bonus wagering requirements worked out in real dollars
To see what bonus wagering requirements cost in practice, here are three worked examples using the published or reported terms above and the third-party RTP figures for named RealTime Gaming slots. RTP is a long-run average, so any single session can land far above or below these numbers.
SlotoCash: $100 deposit, 200% first-deposit match
The casino's terms set 25x on deposit plus bonus. $100 + $200 = $300, and $300 × 25 = $7,500 to wager. On Sweet 16, listed at 96.25% RTP by third-party sources, the expected cost is $7,500 × 3.75% ≈ $281, which is more than the $200 bonus. The welcome terms say there is no max cashout, so a lucky run is not capped.
Royal Ace: $100 deposit, 200% match (as listed by LCB)
At 30x on bonus plus deposit, $300 × 30 = $9,000. On a slot at 97.5% RTP, such as Pay Dirt! by third-party figures, the expected cost is $9,000 × 2.5% = $225. The same listing caps cashout at 10x the deposit, so the most you could withdraw from this bonus is $1,000.
Slot Madness: $100 deposit, 275% match with code MAD275
The bonus is $275 and the base is $375. At 30x, that is $11,250 of slot bets. At 96% RTP the expected cost is about $450, well above the bonus. The higher the match percentage, the bigger the base and the longer the grind, which is why a very big match bonus is rarely the better deal it looks.
Which games count toward wagering requirements
Welcome bonuses at these casinos are built for slots. SlotoCash's terms list slots, Real-Series video slots (excluding progressive jackpots), keno and scratch cards, and say play on other games voids promotion winnings. Its general terms exclude progressive jackpots, video poker, table games and specialty games by default.
Where table games or video poker are allowed at all, they usually need a higher multiplier. The 60x figure for blackjack and video poker reported for Royal Ace, and published by Silver Oak, means each dollar on those games counts for half as much as a dollar on slots. Our page on bonus game weighting covers this in depth.
Never assume a bonus can be played on blackjack or roulette. Check the eligible-games clause first; at several partners, the wrong game can void winnings.
Rules that sit alongside the playthrough
Wagering never travels alone. These clauses decide whether finishing the requirement actually pays out:
Max bet: SlotoCash's terms cap bets at $10 per spin while a bonus is active.
Max cashout: some offers cap withdrawals from bonus play; see our max cashout rules guide.
Expiry: SlotoCash's general terms give 90 days from redemption; others publish no limit. More in our bonus expiry guide.
Pending withdrawals: SlotoCash says you can't take a bonus while a withdrawal is pending.
Order of claims: SlotoCash's five welcome codes must be claimed in deposit order, one to five.
Breaking one of these can cost you the whole bonus. Casinos call repeated breaches abuse, which our page on bonus abuse rules explains.
How to track wagering progress without overspending
Most casinos show a remaining playthrough figure in the account or cashier area, but the layout varies and some only show it on request. Keep your own record as a backup:
Note the start date, deposit, bonus amount and total wagering in dollars.
After each session, write down your total bets and current balance.
Stop when you reach your planned loss limit, even if wagering is unfinished.
Ask live chat to confirm remaining wagering before you request a withdrawal.
Save chat transcripts and the bonus terms as they stood when you opted in.
Setting a budget first, as our gambling budget guide suggests, matters more here than anywhere else. A playthrough target is not a goal you have to reach.
Low wagering and no wagering bonus alternatives
Lower multipliers reduce the expected cost directly. At a 3.75% edge, every 5x you shave off a $300 base saves about $56 in expected losses. Our pages on the low wagering bonus and the no wagering bonus explain what to look for and where the catches tend to hide.
Another option is to decline the bonus entirely. Without one, you can usually withdraw whenever you like, play any game and bet any amount within the table limits. Our bonus vs no bonus comparison sets out when each choice makes more sense.
Wagering rules at offshore casinos: the US legal picture
Every partner on this page is offshore. None is licensed or regulated by any US state, and state law, not federal law, decides whether playing at one is allowed where you live. Read our guide to offshore casino legality and your state's page before you deposit.
In practice, this means the casino writes, interprets and enforces its own wagering clause. If you disagree about whether you completed playthrough, there is no state regulator to hear the complaint. State-licensed casinos in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and four other states operate under state rules, with a regulator to complain to; see player protections offshore vs licensed.
Partner offers and their published wagering terms
These three partners publish or are reported to use playthrough terms we could check. They are offshore casinos, not licensed by any US state, so check your state's law first. All offers are for new players, 21+ (18+ where allowed), and terms apply.
Royal Ace Casino: $2,500 Welcome Bonus + 35 Free Spins, via our link (new players, 21+ or 18+ where allowed, terms apply). Third-party listings report 30x (bonus + deposit) on slots, 60x on blackjack and video poker, and a max cashout of 10x the deposit; LCB lists the casino minimum as $30 by card or $5 by Lightning Bitcoin.
Slot Madness Casino: $2,500 Welcome Bonus + 50 Free Spins, via our link (new players, 21+ or 18+ where allowed, terms apply). Third-party listings report 30x (bonus + deposit) on slots, a $30 minimum deposit and no max cashout on the MAD275 offer.
SlotoCash Casino: $6,000 Welcome Bonus + 60 Free Spins, via our link (new players, 21+ or 18+ where allowed, terms apply). The casino's terms say 25x (deposit + bonus), $20 minimum deposit per bonus, no max cashout on the welcome series and a $10 max bet.
The casinos' own sites advertise packages that differ from our link (SlotoCash, for example, shows $7,777 + 300 spins over five deposits), so the terms shown when you sign up are the ones that count. Michigan's Gaming Control Board has named Slot Madness (August 14, 2025) and SlotoCash (October 8, 2026) in cease-and-desist actions against illegal offshore operators. Read more in our Royal Ace review and the Slot Madness review, and remember the house edge means losses are likely over time.

Frequently asked questions
What does 30x wagering mean on a casino bonus?
It means you must bet 30 times a set amount before you can withdraw bonus funds. If the terms say 30x deposit plus bonus and you deposit $100 for a $100 bonus, you need $6,000 in bets. If they say 30x bonus only, the total is $3,000. Always check the base, then turn it into dollars with our bonus value calculator method before you decide.
Are 25x wagering requirements good?
25x is at the lower end of what offshore RTG casinos publish, but it is not cheap on a deposit-plus-bonus base. SlotoCash's terms set 25x (d+b), which on a $100 deposit with a $200 bonus is $7,500 of bets and roughly $281 of expected losses at 96.25% RTP. Compare it with true low wagering bonuses before calling it a good deal.
Do wagering requirements apply to free spins winnings?
Usually, yes. Winnings from free spins are typically credited as bonus money with their own playthrough and sometimes a cashout cap. Decode's no-deposit RTG50GRANDE spins, for example, are listed by LCB at 40x with a $200 max cashout. Read our guide to free spins winnings and check the spin terms at sign-up, because these change often.
Can I withdraw before meeting the wagering requirement?
You can usually ask, but the casino will typically cancel the bonus and any winnings made with it. Your remaining real-money deposit may be returned, depending on the terms. Ask live chat what happens before you request it, and read our guide on how to withdraw from an online casino for the wider payout process and KYC checks.
Do table games count toward wagering?
Often they don't, and when they do they count for less. SlotoCash's general bonus terms exclude table games, video poker and specialty games by default. Silver Oak publishes 60x for blackjack and video poker against 30x or 40x for slots. Read the eligible-games clause and our table games bonus page before placing a single hand.
Is a higher match bonus better if wagering is the same?
Not necessarily. A bigger match raises the deposit-plus-bonus base, so the same multiplier means far more betting and a larger expected cost. A 275% match on $100 at 30x is $11,250 of wagering, while a 100% match is $6,000. See our deposit match explained guide for the full comparison.
What happens to wagering if I lose my balance?
If your balance reaches zero, the bonus simply ends and the remaining requirement no longer matters. You owe the casino nothing. That is the most common outcome, because the house edge works against you on every bet. Decide in advance how much you are willing to lose and stop there; our bankroll management guide explains how.
Are wagering requirements the same at state-licensed casinos?
No. State-licensed online casinos also use playthrough, but their bonus terms sit under a state regulator, and players have a formal complaint route. Offshore partners set their own rules with no US oversight. Our guide to offshore vs state-licensed casinos compares the protections in detail.
How long does it take to clear a 25x wagering requirement?
It depends on your bet size, because the requirement is a dollar total rather than a time limit. A $100 deposit with a $200 bonus at 25x deposit plus bonus needs $7,500 in bets. That's 7,500 spins at $1, 3,750 at $2, or 750 at SlotoCash's $10 max bet. Bigger bets finish sooner but drain a balance faster on bad runs. Check the deadline too: SlotoCash's general terms give 90 days from redemption. Our guide to how to clear a casino bonus covers pacing.
What is Miami Club's wagering requirement?
Miami Club's own bonus terms set 20x deposit plus bonus for matches up to 100%, 30x for matches above 100% and 40x for no-deposit bonuses. Keno, scratch cards and regular slots count fully, video poker counts 10% and blackjack 5%, and roulette is forbidden with a bonus active. The $4,000 + 285 Bonus Games offer via our link may show different terms at sign-up. Its Terms of Use (section 1.6) list the US as prohibited, while the affiliate program confirms US players are accepted, so confirm first. See the Miami Club welcome bonus.
What is the wagering requirement on a no deposit bonus?
No-deposit bonuses usually carry higher multiples than deposit bonuses, plus a tight cashout cap. Silver Oak's own site lists 30x on its no-deposit codes, 60x on blackjack and video poker, with a $100 max cashout. Miami Club's bonus terms set 40x. Third-party reviews report Planet 7's $25 free chip at 30x with a $100 cap, and Decode's RTG50GRANDE spins at 40x with a $200 cap. Because the cap limits the upside, a high multiple matters less than it would on a deposit bonus. See our no deposit bonus guide.
Does video poker count toward bonus wagering requirements?
Sometimes, but usually at a reduced rate or a higher multiple. Miami Club's bonus terms count video poker at 10%, so a $4,000 wagering target would need $40,000 in video poker bets. Silver Oak publishes 60x for video poker against 30x or 40x for slots, and LCB reports the same 60x at Royal Ace. SlotoCash's general terms exclude video poker from bonus play by default. If video poker is your main game, compare offers on our video poker bonus page before opting in.
Do wagering requirements apply to casino cashback?
Often yes, so read the cashback terms as carefully as a welcome bonus. Silver Oak's cash back on no-bonus deposits over $1,000 carries 30x wagering, per its own promotions page. Third-party reviews report Decode's 25% cashback at 20x. SlotoCash lists instant cashback of 25% on Monday to Wednesday deposits and 35% from Thursday to Sunday, but the rollover isn't stated beside it, so ask support before you rely on it. Our cashback bonus guide explains how these offers are usually paid.
How does the max bet rule affect clearing wagering requirements?
The max bet sets the fastest pace you're allowed to clear at, and breaking it can void your winnings. SlotoCash caps bets at $10 a spin while a bonus is active, so a $7,500 target needs at least 750 spins. Miami Club caps any single wager at $10 and slot bets at $2 per line, and counts buy-bonus purchases toward the limit. Stay well under the cap, especially on slots with variable line bets. Our wagering requirements explained guide covers the other rules that sit alongside playthrough.
Are wagering requirements different at Michigan's licensed online casinos?
The main difference in Michigan is oversight, not the arithmetic. The Michigan Gaming Control Board lists 15 authorized online casino platform providers, and players there have a state regulator to complain to. The board has also sent cease-and-desist letters naming five of our partners, calling them illegal offshore operators, and we show no offers on Michigan pages. Offshore casinos set and enforce their own playthrough rules with no state review. Read our Michigan casino bonuses page for the state's own rules.
