Online keno is a lottery-style game: you pick numbers, the game draws 20 balls, and you're paid by how many of your picks match. RealTime Gaming's version, released in 2018, is the one you'll meet at most offshore casinos. Its return isn't published anywhere we can verify, so this page gives you the exact odds and shows how to judge the pay table yourself.
RTG Keno is a lottery-style game released on April 15, 2018, according to third-party catalog data; its RTP isn't published.
The odds are fixed by math: on a 4-spot ticket you catch all four numbers about once in 326 games.
Keno is one of the few non-slot games some welcome bonuses allow, including SlotoCash's (casino's own terms).
For 2026, keno wins of $2,000 or more, net of the wager, are reportable on Form W-2G.

What is online keno?
Online keno is a number-draw game descended from lottery-style keno halls. You choose a set of numbers, called spots, from a board. The game then draws 20 numbers at random and pays you according to how many of your spots were drawn, which players call catches. It sits with the specialty titles in our online casino games section rather than with slots or table games.
The version at most RTG-powered offshore casinos is RealTime Gaming's Keno. Third-party catalog data lists it as released on April 15, 2018. GamesHub notes a quick-pick option that chooses numbers for you. Nobody publishes an RTP for it in the sources we use, and the top prize is reported two ways: 250 times the stake by SlotCatalog and $50,000 by GamesHub.
Keno takes seconds per game and has no skill element beyond choosing how many spots to play and how much to stake. That makes it easy to learn and easy to over-play, so the odds and costs below matter. For a plain walk-through of the format in general, see our how to play keno guide.
How to play RTG Keno online
Standard keno uses a board of 80 numbers with 20 drawn per game. The figures on this page assume that standard format; check the game's help screen to confirm the board and draw size before you play.
Set your stake per game, and decide in advance how many games you'll play.
Choose how many spots to play. Fewer spots means smaller prizes that land more often; more spots means bigger prizes that rarely land.
Pick your numbers on the board, or use quick pick to let the game choose. The odds are identical either way.
Open the pay table for your spot count and note what each number of catches pays.
Start the draw. The game draws 20 numbers and highlights your catches.
Collect any payout from the pay table, then check your balance against your limit before the next game.
Online keno odds: how often you catch every spot
Keno odds aren't a casino secret. With 80 numbers and 20 drawn, the chance of any result follows directly from counting combinations. The table below is computed for standard 80-number, 20-draw keno and shows the chance of catching all of your spots.

Each extra spot makes a full catch several times harder. A 10-spot full catch is roughly a one-in-nine-million event, so even someone playing thousands of games a year will very likely never see one.

On a 6-spot ticket, more than half of all games end with zero or one catch. Whether two or three catches pay anything depends on the pay table, which is why the next section matters.
Online keno RTP: why it isn't published and how to work it out
RTG doesn't publish a return for Keno in any source we can verify, and neither do the casinos featured here. You can still calculate it, because keno's odds are fixed. The return for a spot count is the sum of each payout multiplied by its probability.
Pick one spot count, for example 4 spots.
From the pay table, note the total amount paid back on a $1 bet for each number of catches.
Multiply each payout by its probability from the table above.
Add the results. That total is the return per $1; take it from $1 to get the house edge.
A quick sanity check uses the 1-spot ticket. You catch your number 25% of the time, so a fair game would pay back $4 in total on a $1 winning bet. Any pay table that returns less than $4 on a 1-spot hit is keeping the difference. Our house edge guide and the entry on what RTP means explain the idea in more depth.
Keno pay tables can differ between spot counts in the same game, so the return on 4 spots may not match the return on 8. Do the calculation for the spot count you actually play.
Keno max win: two conflicting figures
SlotCatalog lists RTG Keno's top payout as 250 times the stake, while GamesHub gives a $50,000 maximum. Those can't both describe the same limit in the same way, and neither source explains the difference. At a $1 stake, 250x would be $250.
Treat the pay table in the game as the only reliable figure. Also remember that the casino's own terms can cap what you withdraw, especially if you're playing with bonus money; see max cashout rules.
Keno and casino bonuses: one of the few non-slot exceptions
Most welcome bonuses are slot-only, but keno is sometimes allowed. That's the main reason the casinos on this page were chosen for keno players. Here's what the published terms say.
Welcome bonus eligible games: slots, Real-Series video slots (not progressives), keno and scratch cards. 25x (deposit + bonus), $20 minimum per bonus, $10 max bet, no max cashout
Welcome bonus for slots and keno; $30 minimum; no max cashout. Wagering of 30x (bonus + deposit) is reported by a different listing
Third-party reviews
A worked example at SlotoCash: deposit $50 and take a 200% match on the first deposit (the first-deposit match on SlotoCash's welcome bonus terms (opens in a new tab)), giving a $100 bonus. At 25x deposit plus bonus, you must wager $150 × 25 = $3,750. Because keno's edge isn't published, you can't price that exactly, but every 1% of house edge costs about $37.50 over that much play. If your calculation shows a 10% edge on your chosen spot count, the expected cost is around $375, well over the $100 bonus.
Keno has its own tax reporting rule. According to the IRS instructions for Form W-2G (opens in a new tab), for payments made in 2026, keno winnings of $2,000 or more, after subtracting the wager, are reportable. Regular gambling withholding doesn't apply to keno, though backup withholding of 24% can apply if you don't give a correct taxpayer ID.
All gambling winnings are taxable federal income, reported or not, including winnings from offshore casinos. From the 2026 tax year, the 2025 tax law reportedly limits the loss deduction to 90% of losses; check IRS guidance. Keep a record of each session's stakes and results. See gambling taxes and what a W-2G is.
Keno myths: hot numbers, patterns and quick pick
Every draw is independent. The game doesn't remember previous draws, so a number that has come up often isn't "hot" and one that hasn't appeared isn't "due". The random number generator picks each set of 20 fresh.
Quick pick and your own numbers have exactly the same odds.
Patterns on the board, such as rows or corners, don't change anything.
Playing more spots doesn't improve value by itself; it only changes the shape of the payouts.
Raising stakes after a loss doesn't make a win more likely. It only increases what you can lose.
Is online keno legal in the US?
Your state's law decides, not the game. Only seven states license real-money online casinos: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Everywhere else, no state licenses online casino games, keno included. Our guide to states with legal online casinos covers each one.
The casinos featured here are offshore. No US state licenses or regulates them, so there's no state regulator to complain to and no state protection for your balance. The Michigan Gaming Control Board has named all three in cease-and-desist actions, calling them illegal offshore operators: Silver Oak on April 9, 2025, Slot Madness on August 14, 2025, and SlotoCash in its October 8, 2026 release (opens in a new tab). Read are offshore casinos safe before you deposit.
Setting limits for fast keno games
Online keno can run a game every few seconds, which makes it easy to lose track. Decide on a number of games and a budget before you start, and stop when you reach either. The gambling budget guide helps you set one.

Frequently asked questions
How does online keno work?
You pick between one and several numbers from a board, the game draws 20 numbers at random, and you're paid by how many of your picks were drawn. Standard keno uses 80 numbers. Each game is independent and takes only seconds, and the pay table for your spot count sets every prize. The keno spot entry explains the terms, and our how to play keno guide covers the basics.
What are the odds of winning at online keno?
It depends on how many spots you play. In standard 80-number keno, a 1-spot ticket hits 25% of the time, a 4-spot ticket catches all four about once in 326 games, and a 10-spot full catch is roughly one in 8.9 million. Whether a partial catch pays depends on the pay table. These odds are computed from combinations, not from the casino. See how RNGs work for the randomness behind them.
Does RTG publish an RTP for its online keno game?
No. It isn't published in any source we can verify, by RTG or by the casinos. You can work it out from the pay table: multiply each payout by its probability, add them up, and you have the return per $1. A 1-spot that pays less than $4 in total on a $1 win is keeping the difference. Our house edge explainer and RTP guide show the method.
Can I use a casino bonus on keno?
Sometimes. SlotoCash's own welcome terms list keno as an eligible game alongside slots, Silver Oak's terms apply 40x wagering to keno, and third-party reviews report Slot Madness's welcome bonus covers slots and keno. Many other bonuses exclude keno, so check the eligible games list before you play. Our page on what games count toward wagering explains game weighting.
How many keno spots should I play?
There's no spot count that beats the house; the choice only changes how your results are shaped. Fewer spots pay small amounts more often, while more spots pay rarely but larger. If you want the best value, calculate the return for each spot count from the pay table and play the highest one. Our bankroll management guide helps you match stake and spot count to your budget.
Do I have to report keno winnings to the IRS?
Yes, all gambling winnings are taxable federal income. For payments made in 2026, keno wins of $2,000 or more, net of the wager, are reportable on Form W-2G, and regular withholding doesn't apply to keno. You owe tax on winnings even when no form is issued, including offshore. See do I pay tax on casino winnings and our W-2G form page.
Are there hot and cold numbers in online keno?
No. Each draw is made fresh by the random number generator, and past draws have no effect on future ones. A number that has appeared often isn't more likely to come again, and one that hasn't appeared isn't due. Quick pick and hand-picked numbers have identical odds. For more myths and the math behind them, see are slots rigged online and what is keno.
Is online keno legal in my state?
Only seven states license real-money online casinos: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Elsewhere, no state licenses online casino games, including keno. The offshore casinos featured on this page aren't licensed by any US state, so check your own state's law first. Our states hub and the guide to offshore casino legality explain each state's position.
Is online keno legal in Connecticut?
Yes, through Connecticut's licensed online casinos, since the state is one of seven that license real-money online casino games. Public Act 21-23, signed in May 2021, authorized two operators: DraftKings, partnered with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe (Foxwoods), and FanDuel, partnered with the Mohegan Tribe (Mohegan Sun). The Department of Consumer Protection's Gaming Division regulates them, and the minimum age is 21 for online casinos, while lottery keno is 18. Whether a licensed app offers keno is for you to check in its lobby. Offshore RTG casinos hold no Connecticut license. See our Connecticut gambling laws page and gambling age by state.
Can I play keno on my phone?
Yes, at casinos that run in a mobile browser, which covers the partners on this page. SlotoCash's own support page says there's no app or software required and suggests a home-screen shortcut. Esports.gg, a third-party reviewer, lists Keno in Slot Madness's lobby and reports browser play on Android and iPhone with no app. Silver Oak's own mobile page describes browser play on iPhone, Android and tablets. Keno games take seconds, and that's even easier to lose track of on a phone, so set a game count first. Our SlotoCash mobile casino page and mobile casino guide cover setup.
How much does online keno cost per session?
It depends on a house edge that RTG doesn't publish, so work it out from the pay table or use a range. Play 300 games at $1 and you've staked $300 in total. At a 10% house edge that averages $30 lost; at 20%, $60; at 30%, $90. Because a game can run every few seconds, 300 games doesn't take long. Lowering the stake to $0.25 cuts each figure to a quarter. Calculate the actual edge for your spot count with the method in the RTP section, then set a budget using our gambling budget guide and the house edge entry.
What are the odds of catching 3 out of 6 in keno?
About 12.98% per game, or roughly one game in eight, computed for standard 80-number, 20-draw keno. Catching 4 of 6 drops to about 2.85%, 5 of 6 to about 0.31%, and all six to about 0.013%, or one in 7,753. More than half of 6-spot games end with zero or one catch. Whether 3 catches pays anything, and how much, depends on RTG's pay table for 6 spots, so read it before playing. Our how to play keno guide explains spot choice, and the keno spot entry defines the terms.
Is online casino keno the same as lottery keno?
The format is similar, but who runs it and how it's regulated differ. State lottery keno is run by a state lottery under that state's rules; Connecticut's, for example, has a minimum age of 18. RTG Keno at offshore casinos is run by the casino's own software, with a pay table the casino sets, an RTP that isn't published, and no US state oversight. Online casino keno also runs much faster, often a game every few seconds. Check our state lotteries online guide and what is keno for more on both versions.
Can you win $50,000 playing RTG Keno?
Possibly, but the sources conflict and the odds are tiny. GamesHub lists a $50,000 maximum for RTG Keno, while SlotCatalog gives 250 times the stake, which would be $250 on a $1 game. Neither explains the gap, so the pay table in the game is the only reliable figure. Any top prize needs a full or near-full catch on a high spot count: a 10-spot full catch is roughly one in 8.9 million games. Withdrawal limits and bonus caps can also limit what you take out. See weekly withdrawal limits and what to do after a big win.
