A casino cashback bonus returns a percentage of your losses, or of a losing deposit, as cash or bonus funds. It softens a bad session but never turns losing into winning. Whether the refund comes with wagering attached decides most of its value, so that is the first line of the terms to read.

What is a casino cashback bonus?
A casino cashback bonus gives back part of what you lost over a set period or on a specific deposit. If a casino offers 10% weekly cashback and you finish the week $300 down, it returns $30. Some casinos pay that as withdrawable cash; others pay it as a bonus with a wagering requirement attached.
Cashback is the most transparent promotion type because it only pays after a loss has happened. That is also its danger: it can make losing feel cheaper than it is, and it can tempt people to keep playing to reach a tier. Treat it as a small cushion on money you had already decided to spend. The short definition lives in our cashback glossary entry, and the casino bonuses hub covers every other type.
Types of casino cashback: instant, weekly, monthly and VIP
Offshore casinos package cashback in four main ways. The trigger and the payout form matter more than the percentage.

Casino cashback math: worked dollar examples
Two numbers decide what a cashback bonus is worth: the refund itself and the cost of any wagering attached to it. The cost of wagering is total wagering × house edge. The examples use a slot with a 96.25% RTP, the figure third-party game databases report for RTG’s Storm Lords, so the house edge is 3.75%.

The Decode and Silver Oak rows show how wagering shrinks a refund. A $25 refund that needs $500 of slot play is worth about $6.25 on average. A $450 refund that needs $13,500 of play has an expected cost larger than the refund, so on average it is used up before it can be withdrawn. The examples assume the multiple applies to the refund only; if it applies to anything larger, the value falls further.
How no-wagering cashback lowers the house edge
Cashback paid as cash works like a discount on the house edge. Wager $1,000 on a 3.75% edge slot and the expected loss is $37.50. A 25% refund of that average loss returns about $9.38, so the expected cost drops to roughly $28.13, an effective edge near 2.81%. You still lose on average; you just lose less. Our house edge explained guide shows the same method for table games.

Silver Oak’s deposit cash back is aimed at large deposits. A $1,000-plus deposit is a big commitment for most people; never raise a deposit just to reach a cashback band. Its VIP page also lists weekly cashback of up to $2,500 to $7,500 depending on level, plus higher withdrawal limits.
How to claim a cashback bonus, step by step
Find the cashback rules on the casino’s promotions or VIP page and note the percentage, claim window and wagering.
Check whether the cashback needs a deposit made without a bonus. Silver Oak’s does; taking a match bonus on that deposit can disqualify it.
Play as normal within your budget. Don’t change your stakes or session length to chase a refund.
If the refund is manual, contact live chat within the claim window. SlotoCash gives 48 hours for its instant cashback.
Confirm whether the refund arrived as cash or as a bonus, and what wagering, max bet and game rules now apply.
Before withdrawing, finish any wagering and complete KYC verification.
Cashback bonus vs reload bonus: which suits you?
A reload bonus adds money upfront and locks your whole balance behind wagering. Cashback leaves your deposit untouched and only pays if you lose. If you like to withdraw small wins quickly, cashback interferes less, because a deposit played without a bonus can be cashed out once the casino’s normal checks are done.
The trade-off is size. A 100% reload doubles your starting balance; cashback returns a fraction after the fact. Players who mostly play table games or video poker often prefer cashback, since match bonuses usually exclude those games or apply far higher multiples.
VIP cashback in dollars and what to do if a refund doesn't arrive
VIP cashback is usually a percentage of monthly net losses, so the tier matters more than the headline. Here is what the published tiers return on the same $400 losing month, before any wagering on the refund.

SlotoCash's VIP page says entry is by management invitation for active players who have sent security documents, with no published thresholds. Silver Oak lists its levels, but not which monthly rate goes with each one, so ask its VIP host. Neither figure is worth playing extra to reach: a 15% refund on a $400 loss still leaves you $340 down. See our VIP bonus guide and how VIP programs work.
If your cashback doesn't show up
Check the timing first. Silver Oak credits deposit cash back on Mondays at 00:01 EST, and SlotoCash's instant cashback must be claimed within 48 hours.
Confirm the deposit qualified: no bonus code on Silver Oak's cash back deposits, and the right day of the week for SlotoCash's 25% or 35% rate.
Contact live chat with the deposit date, amount and the promotion name, and ask whether the refund is cash or bonus funds.
Save the transcript. If support refuses, follow our casino complaint guide, remembering no US state regulator oversees these offshore casinos.
Cashback red flags and fine print
Refund paid as bonus funds with 20x to 30x wagering, which cuts its value sharply.
High qualifying deposits, such as Silver Oak’s $1,000 threshold.
Short claim windows that expire before you check your balance.
Unclear definitions of net losses, for example whether bonus play or pending withdrawals count.
Withdrawal fees on unwagered deposits. Silver Oak’s terms set an 8% fee (minimum $4) if a deposit hasn’t been wagered once.
Invite-only VIP cashback with no published thresholds, as at SlotoCash.
Cashback is built around losing, so it deserves extra care. If you notice yourself playing on because “the cashback will cover it”, that is chasing losses with a discount, and the house edge still applies to every bet. Our chasing losses guide explains the pattern.
Set a loss limit before each session. Ask the casino to set deposit or time limits; SlotoCash lists deposit and time limits on request and Silver Oak lists deposit limits and cool-off periods. Free, confidential help is available from the National Problem Gambling Helpline at 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738), by call or text, and at the NCPG website (opens in a new tab) by chat.
Is a casino cashback bonus legal in the USA?
The bonus type doesn’t change the legal picture; the casino’s license and your state do. Seven states license real-money online casinos: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Our partners are offshore and hold no US state license.
Any winnings, including those played from a refund, are taxable federal income. See gambling taxes for the reporting rules.
Casino cashback alternatives via our links
Of our partners, Silver Oak is the one whose own site publishes a cashback program, so it leads this list. Planet 7 and Royal Ace have offers via our links, but no cashback terms are published in the sources reviewed, so ask support before counting on one. All three are offshore casinos, not licensed or regulated by any US state, with no state regulator to complain to and no state protection for balances. Check your state’s law before you sign up. Players must be 21+ (18+ where allowed) and terms apply.
Silver Oak Casino: $2,500 Welcome Bonus + 50 Free Spins, via our link (new players, 21+ or 18+ where allowed, terms apply). Its own offer page shows a $10,000 package over ten deposits at 30x with no max withdrawal, while its general terms say 40x on slots; deposits start at $30, and its cash back needs a deposit without a bonus.
Planet 7 Casino: $2,750 Welcome Bonus + 45 Free Spins, via our link (new players, 21+ or 18+ where allowed, terms apply). Third-party reviews report 30x deposit plus bonus on slots, a $1,000 max cashout on its WELCOME200 code and a $2,500 weekly withdrawal cap.
Royal Ace Casino: $2,500 Welcome Bonus + 35 Free Spins, via our link (new players, 21+ or 18+ where allowed, terms apply). Third-party reviews disagree on its public package (200% up to $4,000 versus 250% up to $2,500 + 35 spins) and report 30x on slots, 60x on blackjack and video poker, and a max cashout of 10x the deposit.

Frequently asked questions
How does casino cashback work?
Casino cashback returns a percentage of your losses, or of a losing deposit, after the fact. For example, 25% cashback on a $100 loss returns $25. It may arrive as cash you can withdraw or as bonus funds with wagering attached, and that difference decides most of its value. See our glossary entry on cashback for the basic definition.
Is cashback better than a deposit bonus?
It depends on how you play. Cashback leaves your deposit free of wagering and pays only after losses, which suits players who withdraw small wins or play games excluded from match bonuses. A deposit match gives a bigger balance upfront but ties it up. Compare both using our bonus vs no bonus page before you choose.
Do I have to wager casino cashback?
Often, yes, though it varies by casino. Silver Oak’s deposit cash back carries 30x, and third-party reviews report 20x on Decode’s 25% cashback. SlotoCash’s instant cashback wagering isn’t published in the terms reviewed, so ask support. Cashback with no wagering is worth far more than the same percentage with 30x. Our wagering requirements explained guide shows the math.
Which offshore casino has the best cashback?
Among our partners, SlotoCash and Silver Oak publish the most detailed cashback rules on their own sites. SlotoCash offers 25% or 35% instant cashback depending on the day, and Silver Oak pays 30% to 50% on large deposits made without a bonus, with 30x wagering. Neither is licensed by a US state. See our best cashback casinos list for a full comparison.
Is VIP cashback worth chasing?
No, not if it means playing more than you planned. VIP cashback at SlotoCash runs from 5% to 15% of monthly net losses, and its tiers are by invitation only with no published thresholds. Reaching a higher tier usually requires much more wagering, and the house edge applies to all of it. Our VIP bonus page explains how these programs are structured.
Can cashback be withdrawn straight away?
Only if the casino pays it as cash with no wagering. Many offshore casinos credit cashback as bonus funds, which you must play through before withdrawing, and you will still need to pass account verification. Check the payout form in the promotion terms or ask live chat. Our how to withdraw guide covers the full process.
Does cashback count as taxable income?
Gambling winnings are taxable federal income, and the IRS uses Form W-2G for certain payouts, with a $2,000 threshold for slot winnings paid in 2026. How a cashback refund is treated for tax purposes isn’t covered by the sources reviewed, so keep records and ask a tax professional. Our gambling taxes page explains the reporting basics.
Can cashback encourage problem gambling?
It can, because it rewards losing and can make continued play feel cheaper. If you find yourself depositing to reach a cashback tier or playing on to recover losses, take a break and set limits. The National Problem Gambling Helpline, 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738), is free and confidential. See our help and support page for more options.
Does Miami Club Casino offer a cashback bonus?
Miami Club's promotions page lists a 25% Rebate Bonus, but the sources reviewed don't itemize its wagering, claim window or payout form. Its general bonus terms set 20x deposit plus bonus for matches up to 100%, so ask support whether that or another multiple applies to the rebate before you count on it. Miami Club runs WGS (Wager Gaming) games, not RTG. Its Terms of Use (section 1.6) list the US as prohibited, while the affiliate program confirms US players are accepted, so confirm at sign-up. Read our Miami Club review for more.
How much is SlotoCash's instant cashback worth in dollars?
SlotoCash's 25% to 35% instant cashback returns $50 to $70 on a lost $200 deposit, depending on the day. Its promotions page sets 25% on Monday to Wednesday deposits and 35% from Thursday to Sunday, claimed within 48 hours. VIP members get 35% and 50% on the same days, per its VIP page, which would be $70 or $100 on that deposit. The wagering on the refund isn't stated beside the offer, and that decides what it's really worth, so ask first. See the SlotoCash VIP program page.
How much do I need to deposit for Silver Oak's cash back?
Silver Oak's cash back starts with a deposit over $1,000 made without a bonus. Its own page pays 30% on $1,001 to $5,000, 40% on $5,001 to $10,000 and 50% above $10,001, with 30x wagering, credited on Mondays at 00:01 EST. A $2,000 deposit would earn $600 and a $6,000 deposit $2,400. Card deposits there are capped at $1,000 and carry 3% to 10% fees, so larger deposits mean Bitcoin, Litecoin or Ethereum. Never raise a deposit to reach a band. See Bitcoin casinos for how crypto deposits work.
Can I take a deposit bonus and cashback on the same deposit?
Not at Silver Oak, and it isn't clear elsewhere, so ask before you deposit. Silver Oak's cash back applies only to deposits made without a bonus, so redeeming a match code on that deposit would rule the cash back out. SlotoCash doesn't say on its promotions page whether its instant cashback can follow a bonus deposit. Third-party reviews report Decode's 25% cashback at 20x, without saying how it combines with coded offers. Get the answer in writing from live chat, and compare offers on our reload bonus page.
What is the difference between cashback and comp points?
Cashback pays back part of your losses, while comp points pay a small reward on every bet whether you win or lose. SlotoCash and Silver Oak both value comps at 100 points to $1, and Silver Oak's expire after 12 months. At SlotoCash's Gold tier, one point per $7.50 wagered means $1,000 of play earns about 133 points, or $1.33. A lost $1,000 deposit made on a Monday, at SlotoCash's 25% instant cashback rate, would return $250 before any wagering. Our comp points page explains how points are earned and redeemed.
Is casino cashback available to players in Ohio?
Ohio doesn't license online casinos, so no state-regulated site there offers casino cashback. The Ohio Casino Control Commission says illegal online sites offer no consumer protections and recommends blocking tools such as Gamban. Some third-party reports say certain offshore brands refuse Ohio players, and none of our partners publishes a full restricted-state list. A bill to legalize online casinos, HB 298, has been pending since May 2025. Ohio's own helpline is 1-800-589-9966. Read our Ohio casino bonuses page before you sign up anywhere.
