Illinois online casino bonuses

Illinois online casino bonuses come only from offshore casinos, because Illinois licenses no online casino. Those bonuses can look large, but wagering rules decide their real value: a $111 bonus with 25x deposit-plus-bonus playthrough means betting $5,275 before you can withdraw. This guide shows how wagering works in dollars and what the current partner offers require.

IL No state-licensed online casinos · Illinois guide

Key takeaways

  • No Illinois-licensed online casino exists, so every casino bonus open to Illinois players is from an offshore site the state does not regulate.
  • Wagering is the key number: multiply the requirement by the amount it applies to, and expect to lose roughly the house edge on that total.
  • Silver Oak’s own pages conflict on wagering, 30x on the offer page and 40x in the terms, so plan around the higher figure.
  • Roulette, baccarat, craps, live dealer and progressives don’t count toward Silver Oak’s bonus play; blackjack and video poker need 60x.
  • Bonus codes change often; use the terms shown at sign-up rather than an old code list.

Illinois online casino bonuses: what is actually on offer

Offshore casinos that take Illinois sign-ups advertise welcome matches, free chips, free spins, cashback and VIP rewards. The headline numbers are large, from a few hundred dollars to $10,000 packages, but every one comes with wagering, game limits and often a cap on what you can cash out.

Decode’s own site leads with a $111 free chip and crypto bonuses, according to its banking page (opens in a new tab), while Silver Oak advertises 100% matches on each of its first ten deposits up to $10,000. The offers through our links differ from both, and the terms at sign-up are the ones that apply. Start with our Illinois online casino guide for the legal background.

Illinois licenses online sportsbooks and lottery sales, but not online casinos. The Illinois Gaming Board says state law prohibits operating internet sites that allow gambling, and its cease-and-desist letters (opens in a new tab) in February 2026 told more than 60 online casino and sweepstakes operators to block Illinois. Our Illinois gambling laws page sets out the statutes.

For bonus hunters, that has a direct consequence. If an offshore casino voids a bonus or keeps winnings under a disputed rule, no Illinois agency will review it. The casino’s terms, which it can change, are the only rulebook. We don’t tell readers that playing is legal for them, and we don’t predict prosecution.

How casino bonus wagering works, in dollars

Wagering, also called playthrough or rollover, is the total you must bet before bonus money and its winnings become withdrawable. The multiple can apply to the bonus alone or to deposit plus bonus, and that choice can double the figure. Here is a $100 deposit with a 100% match at different settings.

Wagering on a $100 deposit with a $100 bonus
RequirementApplies toAmountTotal to wager
25xDeposit plus bonus$200$5,000
30xBonus only$100$3,000
30xDeposit plus bonus$200$6,000
40xDeposit plus bonus$200$8,000
60x (blackjack, video poker at Silver Oak)Deposit plus bonus$200$12,000

The cost of clearing it is roughly total wagered multiplied by the house edge. On a slot returning 96.25%, the figure GamesHub gives for Cash Bandits 2, the edge is 3.75%, so $6,000 of wagering costs about $225 on average. That is more than the $100 bonus. Read our wagering requirements guide for the method.

These are averages. Some sessions finish well ahead and many finish with nothing, but no betting pattern removes the house edge.

Worked example: Decode’s reported DECODE111 code

LCB reports a Decode code, DECODE111, worth 111% up to $1,111 with 25x wagering on deposit plus bonus and a $25 minimum deposit. It also reports a 90-day validity for Decode bonuses. These are third-party figures, not read on Decode’s own terms.

  1. Deposit $100 and redeem the code: bonus $111, balance $211.
  2. Multiply by 25: $211 × 25 = $5,275 to wager.
  3. Estimate the cost on a 96.25% slot: $5,275 × 3.75% = about $198.
  4. Compare with the $111 bonus: on average, clearing it costs more than it adds.
  5. Check the max bet and eligible games before you start; reviewers report disputes over max bets at Decode.

LCB also lists EASY25CODE, a 400% sign-up match at 35x deposit plus bonus with a $25 minimum and no max cashout. VegasSlotsOnline instead reports a 500% match with 50 spins on Johnny Cash at 30x. Sources disagree, so treat any code as unconfirmed until the cashier shows it. See our Decode bonus codes page.

Worked example: Silver Oak’s ten-deposit match

Silver Oak’s new member offer page (opens in a new tab) describes a 100% match on each of the first ten deposits, using codes SILVEROAK1 to SILVEROAK10, with 30x playthrough, 60x for blackjack and video poker, and no max withdrawal. Its terms and conditions (opens in a new tab) give 40x for slots, keno, bingo and scratch cards, and 60x for table games and video poker.

With a $100 deposit and $100 bonus, 30x on deposit plus bonus means $6,000 of play; 40x means $8,000. At a 3.75% edge that is roughly $225 or $300 in expected cost. The pages don’t state an expiry. Ask support which figure applies to your account and keep the answer in writing. Our Silver Oak welcome bonus page goes deeper.

Which games count toward bonus wagering

Bonuses at offshore casinos are built for slots. Under Silver Oak’s terms, the excluded games are baccarat, craps, crash games, Henferno, pai gow poker, Pontoon 21, roulette, shooting games, sic bo, war, tournaments, live dealer games and progressives from bonus play. Blackjack and video poker count but need 60x, double the slot figure on the offer page.

Playing an excluded game with an active bonus can void the bonus and any winnings. If you prefer table games, it is often better to decline the bonus. Our explainers on game weighting and which games count toward wagering cover the rules in detail.

Max cashout, max bet and expiry rules

Three smaller rules catch more players than wagering does. A max cashout limits what you can withdraw from bonus play; Silver Oak’s no-deposit chips are capped at $100, and Decode’s reported no-deposit spins at $200. A max bet limits your stake while the bonus is active; Decode’s reported free spins carry a $10 maximum. An expiry removes the bonus if wagering is not finished in time; LCB reports 90 days at Decode.

No max withdrawal is stated for Silver Oak’s welcome offer, a real plus, but check whether that still applies on the day you claim it. See max cashout rules for how caps are applied.

How to claim an online casino bonus from Illinois

  1. Read the offer page and the full bonus terms, noting wagering, its basis, max bet, max cashout and expiry.
  2. Check which payment methods qualify; some offers are crypto-only.
  3. Enter any code in the cashier before or with the deposit, as the terms instruct.
  4. Confirm the bonus appears in your balance before placing a bet.
  5. Play only eligible games and stay under the max bet.
  6. Track progress in the cashier, and finish wagering before you request a withdrawal.
  7. Verify your account early so the cashout isn’t delayed once wagering is done.

Our guide to claiming a casino bonus shows each stage, and how to clear a bonus covers the playthrough.

Bonus red flags Illinois players should check

  • Conflicting terms. Silver Oak’s 30x versus 40x is one example; plan for the stricter figure.
  • Wagering on deposit plus bonus at high multiples. 35x on deposit plus bonus doubles the work compared with bonus-only wagering.
  • Low max cashout on large matches. A cap can wipe out most of a big win.
  • Codes from unofficial mirror sites. Copycat sites list codes the casino may not honor.
  • Reports of voided winnings. Trustpilot reviewers describe voided bonus winnings at Decode, and LCB members allege no-deposit codes weren’t honored.

None of these makes a bonus worthless, but each reduces what you can expect to keep. Our bonus terms red flags checklist goes further.

Casino bonus offers for Illinois readers via our links

The two offers below are from offshore casinos that hold no Illinois or other US state license. Illinois treats unlicensed online casinos as illegal gambling, and there is no state regulator to hear a bonus dispute or protect your balance. Check Illinois law and each casino’s current terms first. We earn a commission through these links and rank partners commercially.

Decode Casino: $5,000 Welcome Bonus + 50 Free Spins, via our link (new players, 21+ or 18+ where allowed, terms apply). Third-party reviews report codes such as DECODE111 (111% up to $1,111, 25x deposit plus bonus, $25 minimum) and EASY25CODE (400%, 35x deposit plus bonus, $25 minimum, no max cashout); Decode’s own terms could not be read, so rely on the terms at sign-up. Decode is reported to refuse players from Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Washington, not Illinois. See the Decode review.

Silver Oak Casino: $2,500 Welcome Bonus + 50 Free Spins, via our link (new players, 21+ or 18+ where allowed, terms apply). The casino’s own pages advertise 100% on each of ten deposits up to $10,000 with no free spins, 30x or 40x wagering as noted above, 60x on blackjack and video poker, no max withdrawal and $30 minimum deposits. Michigan’s regulator named Silver Oak in an April 9, 2025 cease-and-desist release. Read the Silver Oak review.

Bonuses are slot-focused; table games are often excluded or weighted lower. Treat any bonus as extra playing time, not income, and if gambling stops being fun call or text 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738) or visit NCPG’s help and treatment page (opens in a new tab).

Frequently asked questions

Are online casino bonuses legal in Illinois?

Illinois has no licensed online casinos, so there are no state-regulated casino bonuses. The bonuses Illinois players see come from offshore casinos, which the Illinois Gaming Board treats as illegal gambling sites. Licensed Illinois sportsbooks run their own promotions under state oversight. If you claim an offshore bonus, no Illinois agency will hear a dispute about it. Our Illinois gambling laws page explains the statutes behind this.

What is the best online casino bonus for Illinois players?

The best bonus is the one with the lowest real cost, not the biggest headline. Compare wagering, its basis, eligible games and max cashout. The welcome offer on Silver Oak’s own site states no max withdrawal but has 30x or 40x wagering, depending on which page you read. Decode’s reported DECODE111 code has 25x on deposit plus bonus. Work out the total to wager before choosing. See our best welcome bonus casinos list.

How do wagering requirements work on Illinois casino bonuses?

A wagering requirement is the total you must bet before bonus funds and winnings can be withdrawn. Multiply the requirement by the amount it applies to: 30x on a $100 bonus is $3,000, but 30x on a $100 deposit plus $100 bonus is $6,000. Your expected cost is roughly that total times the house edge. Only eligible games count. Our wagering requirement explainer has more examples.

Can I use a casino bonus on blackjack or roulette in Illinois?

Usually only partly, and sometimes not at all. Roulette, baccarat, craps, live dealer games and several others are excluded from bonus play under Silver Oak’s terms, which also require 60x wagering on blackjack and video poker instead of the slot figure. Playing an excluded game with an active bonus can void your winnings. If you mainly play table games, consider skipping the bonus. See best bonus for blackjack.

Do casino bonus codes work for Illinois players?

Codes generally work the same for any player a casino accepts, but they change often and some listed online are out of date. Silver Oak publishes SILVEROAK1 to SILVEROAK10 for its welcome match. Third-party reviewers list Decode codes such as DECODE111 and EASY25CODE, unconfirmed on Decode’s own terms. Always check the cashier before depositing, and ignore codes from unofficial mirror sites. Our bonus codes guide explains how codes work.

What is a max cashout on an Illinois casino bonus?

A max cashout is the most you can withdraw from bonus play, however much you win. Silver Oak caps its no-deposit chips at $100, and third-party reviews report Decode’s no-deposit spins at $200. Anything above the cap is removed when you withdraw. Silver Oak’s welcome offer says no max withdrawal, which is less common. Check the cap before you play. See max cashout explained.

Do I have to pay tax on casino bonus winnings in Illinois?

Winnings from gambling, including those that started as bonus play, are taxable federal income once you have them. For 2026 the W-2G reporting threshold for slot winnings is $2,000, and the 2025 federal tax law reportedly caps the loss deduction at 90% of losses from 2026; check IRS guidance. Illinois’ own treatment isn’t covered here, so ask a tax professional. Our gambling taxes guide has the detail.

Why was my casino bonus removed in Illinois?

Bonuses are most often removed for breaking a rule in the terms: betting over the max bet, playing an excluded game, missing the expiry, or requesting a withdrawal before wagering is finished. Casinos also remove bonuses they suspect of abuse, such as multiple accounts. Ask support for the exact clause in writing. Our explainer on why a bonus was removed lists the usual causes and what to do.

Do licensed Illinois sportsbooks offer bonuses instead?

Yes, Illinois's licensed online sportsbooks run their own promotions, and unlike offshore casino bonuses, they operate under Illinois Gaming Board oversight. The board lists ten online sportsbook operators, including bet365, BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars, DraftKings, Fanatics and FanDuel. Those promotions apply to sports wagering only, not casino games, since Illinois licenses no online casino. Read each sportsbook's terms the same way you'd read a casino's. Our Illinois sports betting page covers the licensed market.

What is the minimum deposit for a casino bonus in Illinois?

Silver Oak's own pages set $30 as the minimum deposit for its ten-deposit welcome match, and third-party reviews report a $25 minimum on Decode's DECODE111 and EASY25CODE codes. Depositing less than the stated minimum usually means the bonus isn't credited, even if the deposit goes through. Remember that a small deposit still carries a large wagering total once the bonus is added. Our minimum deposits page compares cashier minimums by payment method.

Does Silver Oak offer cashback to Illinois players?

Yes, Silver Oak lists cashback of 30% to 50% on non-bonus deposits over $1,000, with 30x wagering on the cashback. It also runs a five-tier VIP scheme, from Silver to Elite, with tiered chips and higher matches. Because cashback is credited as bonus money, it carries its own wagering and game limits, so it softens losses rather than refunding them. Our Silver Oak VIP program page explains how the tiers and cashback rates work.

Can I get a free chip in Illinois without depositing?

Yes, offshore casinos offer them, but caps keep the value small. Silver Oak publishes free chip codes SILVER25, SILVER50 and FREESILVER with a $100 max cashout, and third-party reviews report Decode's 50 no-deposit spins on 777 at 40x with a $200 cap. Most chips run out before wagering is finished, and you'll still need to verify your identity before any payout. Our free chip bonus guide shows how to value one in dollars.

Is a crypto casino bonus a better deal for Illinois players?

Not automatically: a crypto bonus is only better if its wagering, caps and eligible games beat the standard offer. Decode's site headline mentions crypto bonuses, but its terms couldn't be read, so you'd be relying on the cashier. Paying in crypto avoids many card declines, yet transfers generally can't be reversed and coin prices move while you play. Compare the total to wager first. Our Illinois crypto casinos page covers coins, fees and payout times.

Should I decline a casino bonus in Illinois?

Often, yes, if you mainly play table games or want a quick withdrawal. A $100 match at 30x deposit plus bonus means $6,000 of wagering, which costs about $225 on average at a 3.75% edge, more than the bonus itself. Declining keeps your deposit free to withdraw and lets you play blackjack or roulette without voiding anything. Slot players with time to wager may still find value. Our bonus vs no bonus guide walks through the decision.
