Crypto casinos in Illinois are offshore sites, because the state licenses no online casino of any kind and paying in Bitcoin doesn’t change that. The Illinois Gaming Board says state law bars internet gambling sites, and in February 2026 it sent a letter to Stake.us, the best-known crypto-funded sweepstakes brand. Here is what speed, fees and price swings look like in dollars.
No Illinois license covers any crypto casino; the coin you pay with doesn’t change the legal position.
On Silver Oak’s banking page, crypto deposits are free, but withdrawals are Bitcoin-only and capped at $2,500 per request.
Published crypto payout times are days, not minutes: Silver Oak lists 7–10 days for Bitcoin.
Crypto payments generally can’t be reversed, and a price drop while you wait cuts the dollar value of a payout.
KYC checks still apply before withdrawals, even when you deposit in crypto.

Are crypto casinos legal in Illinois?
Illinois has no license for online casinos, whatever the payment method. According to the Illinois Gaming Board’s cease-and-desist page (opens in a new tab), state law prohibits operating internet sites that allow gambling, and its letters warn unlicensed operators to block Illinois or face civil and criminal penalties.
Crypto mostly changes the payment route. The UIGEA stops gambling businesses from accepting card payments, bank transfers and checks for internet bets that state law makes unlawful, which is why offshore casinos lean on Bitcoin. It targets the businesses, and it doesn’t make betting a federal crime for the player. Under Illinois law, an offshore crypto casino still sits outside the state’s licensing system. The Illinois gambling laws page lists the statutes, and the Illinois hub covers the full legal picture.
Crypto sweepstakes sites and the Illinois Stake.us letter
On February 4, 2026, the Gaming Board sent a cease-and-desist letter to Stake (stake.us) (opens in a new tab) as part of a wave of more than 60 letters to online casino and sweepstakes platforms. Stake.us’s own restricted-states help page now lists Illinois among the states where it doesn’t operate.
That matters for crypto users because many “crypto casino” searches lead to sweepstakes brands rather than real-money casinos. Our Illinois sweepstakes casinos page lists which brands exclude the state and what the letters say, and the Stake.us review covers that brand in full.
How a Bitcoin casino deposit works for Illinois players
A crypto deposit is a transfer from a wallet you control to an address the casino shows you. Nothing in the process involves an Illinois bank, which is the appeal for many players and also the risk: there is no card network to dispute a charge.
Read the casino’s banking page for the coins it accepts, the minimum deposit and any fees.
Copy the deposit address from the cashier exactly, and check the network matches the coin.
Send a small amount first if you have never used that casino’s address before.
Record the dollar value at the time you send it, for your own tax and budget records.
Before you play, read the withdrawal page: which coins pay out, the limits and the processing time.
Which coins Silver Oak and Planet 7 take, and the limits
The table separates what each casino publishes from what review sites report. Figures for Silver Oak come from its banking page (opens in a new tab); Planet 7’s own site couldn’t be checked, so its row relies on third-party reviews, which disagree in places.

Crypto payout speed: what is published and what reviewers report
Crypto is fast on the blockchain, but the casino’s review queue usually decides the wait. According to Silver Oak’s terms, there is a review of 7–10 business days plus payment of 7–10 business days, so a Bitcoin cashout can take several weeks in total.

Crypto deposits cost 0% on Silver Oak’s banking page, against 3–10% for card deposits. On a $200 deposit, a card fee at those rates costs $6 to $20, while the casino charges nothing for crypto. Your exchange and the blockchain network may still charge their own fees, which the casino doesn’t publish.
Withdrawals carry fees too: Silver Oak lists $0–$40 for Bitcoin and 5% for Coindraw, so a $1,000 Coindraw payout would lose $50. The terms add an 8% fee (minimum $4) if a deposit hasn’t been wagered once before you withdraw. The crypto fees guide shows how to add up the full cost.
Bitcoin price swings while a withdrawal is pending
A pending crypto payout is exposed to the coin’s price. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s 2022 crypto complaint bulletin (opens in a new tab) notes Bitcoin was down more than 70% from its November 2021 high as of October 3, 2022.
Here is how that plays out on a simple example: if a $2,000 payout is priced in Bitcoin and the coin falls 10% during a two-week wait, you receive about $1,800 in value. A 10% rise would leave you with about $2,200. Stablecoins aim to avoid this, and the USDT page explains how, though Silver Oak doesn’t list them for withdrawals.
KYC still applies at crypto casinos
Paying in crypto doesn’t remove identity checks. Silver Oak, for example, asks in its terms for government photo ID, a selfie with that ID, a utility bill from the last three months and the front and back of any cards used, and withdrawals stay blocked until checks are complete. Third-party reviews report Planet 7 asks for similar documents by email, with verification in zero to three days.
Send documents before your first withdrawal to avoid a stalled payout. Our KYC documents page lists what casinos usually ask for.
Crypto casino risks for Illinois players
The Federal Trade Commission warns that crypto payments lack the legal protections of credit cards (opens in a new tab) and generally can’t be reversed. The CFPB counted more than 8,300 virtual-currency complaints between October 2018 and September 2022; fraud and scams were the top issue at 40%, and money not being available when promised made up 16%.
No Illinois regulator handles complaints about offshore casinos.
A sent transaction can’t be charged back like a card payment.
Copycat sites imitate real casinos; type the address yourself and read the crypto casino scams guide.
Fast deposits make it easy to spend more than planned; set a weekly limit before you start.
Taxes and help for Illinois crypto casino players
Gambling winnings are taxable federal income whether they arrive in dollars or Bitcoin, and slot wins of $2,000 or more paid in 2026 are reportable on a W-2G. Keep a log of each deposit and withdrawal in dollars at the time it happened. From tax year 2026 the loss deduction is reportedly capped at 90% of losses; check IRS guidance.
We show two partners that list crypto banking, and we earn a commission when readers sign up, which shapes the order. Both are offshore and not licensed by Illinois or any US state, so check Illinois law first. You would have no state complaint route and no state protection of your balance. Michigan’s Gaming Control Board named both in its April 9, 2025 cease-and-desist release (opens in a new tab) as illegal offshore operators.

Frequently asked questions
Is it legal to use a Bitcoin casino in Illinois?
No Bitcoin casino is licensed in Illinois, because the state licenses no online casinos at all. The Illinois Gaming Board says state law bars operating internet gambling sites and has warned unlicensed operators to block Illinois. Its letters target operators, and paying in crypto doesn’t change the site’s status. Check the law yourself before you deposit. Our page on whether crypto casinos are legal covers the federal side.
How fast are crypto withdrawals for Illinois players?
Usually days to weeks, because the casino’s review takes longer than the blockchain transfer. Silver Oak’s banking page lists 7–10 days for Bitcoin, and its terms describe review and payment periods of 7–10 business days each. Third-party reviews of Planet 7 range from 5–7 days pending to more than a month. Our page on Bitcoin withdrawal times explains what causes the delays.
Which crypto can I deposit at offshore casinos?
Bitcoin is the common one, and many sites add Litecoin and Ethereum. On Silver Oak’s banking page you’ll find Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum deposits, while third-party reviews of Planet 7 also list Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, Tether and XRP. Withdrawal options are narrower: Silver Oak pays crypto out in Bitcoin only. See which crypto casinos accept for the wider picture across our partners.
Are crypto casinos anonymous in Illinois?
No, not if you want to withdraw. Under Silver Oak’s terms you need photo ID, a selfie with ID, a recent utility bill and card images before any payout, and third-party reviews report Planet 7 asks for similar documents. Plan to verify with your real documents before you play. Our account verification guide explains how to get it done before your first cashout.
Do crypto casinos charge Illinois players fees?
Some do, on withdrawals more than deposits. Silver Oak lists 0% on crypto deposits but $0–$40 on Bitcoin withdrawals and 5% via Coindraw, plus an 8% fee if a deposit hasn’t been wagered once. Exchanges and blockchain networks charge separately, and casinos don’t publish those amounts. Our withdrawal fees page shows how to compare costs across payment methods.
Can I get a crypto bonus in Illinois?
Offshore casinos advertise crypto bonuses, but they work like other match bonuses, with wagering and game limits. Silver Oak’s offer page lists 30x playthrough while its terms say 40x on slots, so check what applies at sign-up. Bonuses are slot-focused, and table games are often excluded or weighted lower. The crypto bonus page works through the dollar math on a typical offer.
What happens if the price of Bitcoin drops before I’m paid?
You receive less in dollar terms. If a $2,000 payout loses 10% of its value during a two-week wait, it is worth about $1,800 when it arrives. The CFPB has noted Bitcoin fell more than 70% from its November 2021 high by October 2022, so swings can be large. Stablecoins reduce this risk, and our stablecoins guide explains how they work and their own risks.
Where can I get help with crypto gambling in Illinois?
Call or text the National Problem Gambling Helpline at 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738), which is free and confidential. The Illinois Gaming Board runs a self-exclusion program, and blocking apps such as Gamban can cover offshore sites. A trusted friend or family member can also help you set spending rules. Our blocking software page compares the main tools.
Has the Illinois Gaming Board acted against crypto casinos?
Yes, in February 2026 the Illinois Gaming Board and the Attorney General sent more than 60 cease-and-desist letters to online casino and sweepstakes platforms. The letters, dated February 4, 2026, include Stake.us, the best-known crypto-funded sweepstakes brand, along with RealPrize, Sportzino and JuicyPopSlots, which the board links to Bovada. They tell operators to block Illinois or face civil and criminal penalties. Our cease-and-desist letters page tracks these actions across the states.
Does Planet 7 take Dogecoin or Tether from Illinois players?
Third-party reviews say yes: Planet 7's reported deposit list includes Dogecoin and Tether alongside Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin and XRP, and one site adds USDC and BNB. Its own site couldn't be checked, so confirm the coin in the cashier first. Withdrawals are narrower, with Bitcoin as the reported crypto route plus wire and check, so altcoins you deposit likely come back as Bitcoin. Our Dogecoin page explains that coin's speed and fee profile.
What is the minimum Bitcoin withdrawal at crypto casinos open to Illinois?
At Silver Oak it's $50, according to its own banking page, with a $2,500 maximum per Bitcoin request. Third-party sources disagree on Planet 7, listing either $50 or $100. A balance below the minimum can't be sent, so a small win may have to stay in your account or be played on. Check the fee too, since Silver Oak lists $0 to $40 per Bitcoin withdrawal. Our minimum withdrawal answer explains how these floors work.
How much crypto can I withdraw per week from Illinois?
About $2,500 a week at the two casinos on this page. Silver Oak's limits start at $2,500 per Bitcoin request and rise with VIP level, and third-party reviews report $2,500 a week at Planet 7, though one site says €2,500 a day. At $2,500 a week, a $10,000 win takes at least four weeks to leave the casino, before Silver Oak's review periods are added. Our weekly withdrawal limit answer covers how caps and VIP tiers interact.
Do I need my own crypto wallet to play at Illinois crypto casinos?
It's the usual route, because offshore cashiers show a deposit address and pay crypto withdrawals back to a wallet address you supply. Buying at an exchange and moving coins to a wallet you control keeps the payout address in your hands. Silver Oak's banking page also lists Changelly for buying crypto, from $60 to $200. Whichever you use, check the coin and network match before sending. Our how to set up a crypto wallet guide covers the setup step by step.
Are crypto casino winnings taxable in Illinois?
Yes, gambling winnings are taxable federal income whether you're paid in dollars or Bitcoin. For 2026 payments, slot wins of $2,000 or more are reportable on a W-2G, but smaller wins still count as income. Log each deposit and withdrawal in dollars on the day it happens, since coin values change. From tax year 2026 the loss deduction is reportedly capped at 90% of losses; check IRS guidance. Illinois state tax isn't covered here. See our keeping gambling records guide.
