Crypto casinos in Connecticut are all offshore: the state's two licensed online casino operators, DraftKings and FanDuel, are the only legal real money options, and no Connecticut license covers a Bitcoin casino. Offshore sites still take Bitcoin from Connecticut players. Here's what the law says, how fast crypto payouts really are, and what fees and price swings cost.
No crypto casino holds a Connecticut license; only DraftKings and FanDuel are licensed for online casino games.
Crypto deposits are quick, but published withdrawal times at offshore casinos still run to days or weeks.
Weekly withdrawal caps of $2,500 are common, so a large win can take months to collect.
Crypto payments generally can't be reversed, and coin prices can move sharply while funds sit in a casino.
Winnings are taxable whatever currency they're paid in.

Are crypto casinos legal in Connecticut?
No crypto casino is licensed in Connecticut. The state does license online casino games, but only through two operators listed by the Department of Consumer Protection (opens in a new tab): DraftKings with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe and FanDuel with the Mohegan Tribe. A site that takes Bitcoin from Connecticut players without one of those licenses is offshore, whatever its marketing says.
The state's main gambling statute is Conn. Gen. Stat. 53-278b, and consumer cases can fall under the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act. We don't tell readers that offshore play is legal for them, and we don't tell them they'll be prosecuted. The Connecticut gambling laws page sets out what the statutes cover, and our hub on online casinos in Connecticut has the wider picture.
The DCP's December 2025 order and what it signals
On December 3, 2025, the DCP issued cease-and-desist orders (opens in a new tab) to Kalshi, Robinhood Derivatives and Crypto.com for unlicensed sports wagering. Its message was blunt: only licensed entities may offer sports wagering in Connecticut.
That order targeted sports event contracts, not casino games, and having crypto in a company's name wasn't the issue. Still, it shows the department acts against well-known platforms operating without a Connecticut license. Players in Bridgeport, Stamford and New Haven should read it as a sign that the state treats licensing as the dividing line, not the payment method.
Why offshore casinos push Bitcoin
Card deposits to offshore casinos often fail. Gambling transactions carry merchant category code 7995, and third-party sources report that many US issuers block that code or treat it as a cash advance with fees. The federal background is UIGEA's payment rule (opens in a new tab), which bars gambling businesses from accepting cards, transfers and checks in connection with unlawful internet gambling. It targets operators, not individual players.
Crypto avoids the card networks, which is why offshore cashiers lead with it. That convenience comes with costs: no chargeback, price swings and slow casino-side payouts. Our card declines page explains the card side, and Bitcoin banking covers the coin itself.
Which cryptocurrencies Bitcoin casinos accept
Coin lists differ by casino and by source. Silver Oak and SlotoCash publish theirs; for Planet 7, Royal Ace and Slot Madness the lists come from third-party reviewers such as LCB.

Minimums vary too. Reviewers report a $5 Bitcoin Lightning minimum at Planet 7 and Royal Ace against $30 for cards. Silver Oak's banking page lists $30 to $100,000 for Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum deposits. Stablecoins such as USDT hold a dollar value, which removes price risk but not casino risk.
How fast are crypto casino withdrawals?
Deposits usually land quickly; SlotoCash's banking page says instant to 20 minutes for Bitcoin. Withdrawals are slower because the casino reviews each request before any coin moves. Published and reported times look like this.

Crypto casino fees Connecticut players should expect
Crypto is often called free, but published fees say otherwise. Silver Oak charges no deposit fee on crypto but lists Bitcoin withdrawal fees of $0 to $40, against 3% to 10% for card deposits. Its terms add an 8% fee (minimum $4) if you withdraw before wagering your deposit once. SlotoCash lists Bitcoin withdrawals as free. AskGamblers reports no withdrawal fees at Planet 7 and Royal Ace.
On top of casino fees, you'll usually pay an exchange spread when buying coins and a network fee when sending them; amounts vary and aren't set by the casino. Our crypto fees guide breaks these down.
Bitcoin price volatility: the hidden casino cost
A dollar-denominated balance can still lose value if you hold coins before or after play. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's 2022 complaint bulletin (opens in a new tab) noted that as of October 3, 2022, Bitcoin was down more than 70% from its November 2021 high.
Here's a simple illustration. You buy $500 of Bitcoin to deposit and the price falls 10% before the transfer: you've lost $50 before your first spin. A $2,000 withdrawal paid in Bitcoin that waits two weeks for approval can swing just as far in either direction. A stablecoin avoids the swing, but most partner casinos above pay out only in Bitcoin, so the exposure returns on the way out.
Weekly withdrawal caps and big crypto wins
Speed matters less than caps once a balance grows. Silver Oak's terms start the weekly limit at $2,500, raised by VIP level. Third-party reviews report $2,500 a week at Planet 7, Royal Ace and Slot Madness, with $5,000 a month at Royal Ace and Slot Madness. SlotoCash publishes $5,000 a week and $20,000 a month.
Run the numbers on a $12,000 win. At $2,500 a week, it takes five weekly payouts. If a $5,000 monthly cap also applies, it stretches to at least three months. Our page on weekly withdrawal limits explains how pending requests and VIP levels change this.
How a Bitcoin casino deposit works, step by step
Decide your budget in dollars first, and don't change it because coin prices move.
Buy the coin at a US exchange in your own name and move it to a wallet you control.
Complete the casino's identity checks before depositing, so a later withdrawal isn't held up.
Copy the deposit address from the casino's own cashier and check the network matches the coin.
Send a small test amount first, then the rest once it arrives.
Save the transaction ID, date and dollar value for your tax records.
Request withdrawals to a wallet you control, and record the coin price on the day it arrives.
Federal consumer agencies warn that crypto payments lack card-style protections and generally can't be reversed, as the FTC's guidance for service members (opens in a new tab) puts it. The CFPB received more than 8,300 virtual-currency complaints between October 2018 and September 2022; fraud and scams made up 40%, and money not being available when promised made up 16%.
Copycat casino sites, called unofficial mirror sites, are a real risk with crypto because a deposit to the wrong address is gone. Only use the address shown in the casino's own cashier. Our crypto casino scams guide lists warning signs.
Taxes and help for Connecticut crypto players
Winnings are taxable federal income whatever form they take. For 2026 payments, slot wins of $2,000 or more trigger a Form W-2G, and from tax year 2026 the loss deduction is reportedly capped at 90% of losses (check IRS guidance). Buying and selling the coins themselves may have separate tax consequences, so keep records and ask a tax professional. See gambling taxes.
If crypto play is getting hard to control, call the Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling at 888-789-7777 or the National Problem Gambling Helpline at 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738). Our page on crypto and problem gambling explains why fast, card-free deposits can make limits harder to keep.
Offshore crypto casinos with an offer via our links
Both casinos below are reported to take a wide range of coins with a $5 Bitcoin Lightning minimum, which is why they top this page. They are offshore and not licensed by Connecticut or any US state. That means no state regulator for complaints, no state protection of balances, and payout terms the casino sets. Check Connecticut law before you deposit. We earn commission through these links, and partners appear in a commercial order.
Planet 7 Casino: $2,750 Welcome Bonus + 45 Free Spins, via our link (new players, 21+ or 18+ where allowed, terms apply). Third-party reviews report 30x deposit-plus-bonus wagering on slots, a $1,000 max cashout on the 200% listing and a $30 card minimum; terms shown at sign-up apply. Reviewers report a $2,500 weekly withdrawal cap. Read the Planet 7 review and Planet 7 Bitcoin page.
Royal Ace Casino: $2,500 Welcome Bonus + 35 Free Spins, via our link (new players, 21+ or 18+ where allowed, terms apply). Reviewers disagree on the casino's own package: LCB lists 200% up to $4,000 with 30x on slots, 60x on blackjack and video poker and a max cashout of 10x the deposit, while casino.guru lists 250% up to $2,500 plus 35 spins. Weekly cap reported at $2,500. See the Royal Ace review.
Free spins are slot-only and carry wagering; table games are often excluded or weighted lower. Third-party reports say Royal Ace does not accept Ohio players. Neither casino publishes a full restricted-state list.

Frequently asked questions
Is it legal to use Bitcoin at online casinos in Connecticut?
No crypto casino holds a Connecticut license. The state licenses online casino games only through DraftKings and FanDuel, and any site outside those two is offshore. State law, not the payment method, decides legality, and we won't tell you offshore play is legal for you. Read the statutes on our Connecticut gambling laws page, and our national page on whether crypto casinos are legal.
Which crypto casino pays out fastest for Connecticut players?
Among our partners, SlotoCash publishes the shortest stated time, within 48 business hours, limited to one request a week. Silver Oak's terms allow 7 to 10 business days for review plus 7 to 10 for payment. Reviewers report pending periods of 5 to 10 days at Planet 7 and Royal Ace, and some report waits of a month or more. Compare options on our fast payout casinos in Connecticut page.
What is the minimum Bitcoin deposit for Connecticut players at offshore casinos?
It depends on the coin route. Reviewers report a $5 minimum for Bitcoin Lightning at Planet 7, Royal Ace and Slot Madness, against $30 for cards. SlotoCash publishes $5 for Lightning and $25 for standard Bitcoin. Silver Oak lists $30 for its crypto deposits. A bonus may have its own minimum, so read the offer terms. Our minimum deposits page compares more methods.
Do crypto casinos charge Connecticut players withdrawal fees?
Some do. Silver Oak lists Bitcoin withdrawal fees from $0 to $40 and an 8% fee if your deposit wasn't wagered once. SlotoCash lists Bitcoin payouts as free, and AskGamblers reports no withdrawal fees at Planet 7 or Royal Ace. Exchange spreads and network fees come on top of anything the casino charges. Our withdrawal fees page explains how to spot fees before you request a payout.
Can I get my money back from a crypto casino deposit?
Usually not. Federal consumer agencies note that crypto payments lack card-style legal protections and generally can't be reversed, unlike card chargebacks. With an offshore casino there's also no Connecticut regulator to complain to. That makes checking the casino's address, terms and caps before you send coins essential. See our page on whether you can get money back from a casino for the options that do exist.
Does crypto make offshore casinos safer?
No. Crypto changes how money moves, not who regulates the casino. You still face offshore terms, weekly caps and slow approvals, and you add coin price swings and irreversible transfers. The CFPB found that 16% of crypto complaints in its 2022 bulletin involved money not being available when promised. Read our Bitcoin safety FAQ before deciding whether crypto suits you at all.
Do I pay tax on crypto casino winnings in Connecticut?
Yes. Gambling winnings are taxable federal income whether paid in dollars or coins, and the W-2G threshold for slot wins is $2,000 for payments made in 2026. From 2026, the loss deduction is reportedly limited to 90% of losses; check IRS guidance. Converting coins may raise separate questions, so keep dated records and speak to a tax professional. Our Form W-2G page explains reporting.
Should I use a stablecoin instead of Bitcoin?
A stablecoin such as USDT holds a dollar value, which removes most price swings while you deposit. Reviewers list USDT at Planet 7, Royal Ace and Slot Madness, but the published crypto payout methods are mostly Bitcoin, so you may be back in a volatile coin on the way out. Weigh the whole round trip, not just the deposit. Our stablecoins guide explains how they work.
Which cryptocurrencies does Slot Madness accept from Connecticut players?
Third-party reviewers list seven coins for Slot Madness deposits: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, USDT, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash and XRP. For withdrawals, the reported options narrow to Bitcoin and Litecoin, which is one more payout coin than most partners offer. The casino's own banking page couldn't be checked for this list, so confirm the coins in its cashier before you buy any. Slot Madness isn't licensed by Connecticut, and the Michigan Gaming Control Board named it in an August 2025 cease-and-desist release. See the Slot Madness Bitcoin page and Litecoin casinos for more.
How long does a Silver Oak Bitcoin withdrawal take for Connecticut players?
Silver Oak's own terms allow up to 7 to 10 business days to review a withdrawal and another 7 to 10 business days to pay it, so a Bitcoin payout could take four weeks in total. It pays crypto out in Bitcoin only, lists Bitcoin withdrawal fees of $0 to $40, and starts its weekly withdrawal limit at $2,500, raised by VIP level. Completing identity checks before you request a payout avoids adding delays to that window. Read the Silver Oak withdrawals page and our casino withdrawal delays guide.
Can I use Litecoin at crypto casinos in Connecticut?
Yes for deposits: all five partners on this page's coin table list Litecoin, per their own pages or third-party reviewers. Withdrawals are another matter, because Silver Oak and SlotoCash pay crypto out only in Bitcoin, and Planet 7 and Royal Ace are reported to do the same. Slot Madness is the one partner reported to pay out in Litecoin. None of these casinos is licensed by Connecticut, so check the state's law first. Our Litecoin casinos page and the is Litecoin faster than Bitcoin answer compare the two coins.
Do crypto casinos ask Connecticut players for ID?
Yes, paying in crypto doesn't remove identity checks at the partner casinos covered here. Silver Oak's terms block withdrawals until verification is complete and ask for photo ID, the cards you've used, a selfie holding your ID and a recent utility bill. Other casinos ask for similar documents before a first payout. Sending them early, before you request a withdrawal, keeps the casino's review period from stretching further. Use only your own, accurate details. Read KYC documents casinos ask for and how to verify your casino account.
What should I do if a crypto casino withdrawal is stuck in Connecticut?
Start by checking whether the request is still inside the casino's published pending period, which runs from 48 business hours at SlotoCash to 7 to 10 business days at Silver Oak. If it's past that, ask support in writing for the reason and any missing documents, and keep copies of every reply. Don't reverse the withdrawal and keep playing it. Because these casinos are offshore, Connecticut's Department of Consumer Protection can't order a payout. Our why is my casino withdrawal pending answer and pending withdrawals page list next steps.
Can Connecticut players claim the Planet 7 welcome bonus with Bitcoin?
Planet 7's offer via our link is $2,750 plus 45 free spins (new players, 21+ or 18+ where allowed, terms apply), and reviewers report Bitcoin and Lightning deposits from $5. Whether a crypto deposit qualifies depends on the minimum in the bonus terms shown at sign-up. Third-party reviews report 30x deposit-plus-bonus wagering on slots and a $1,000 max cashout on the 200% listing. Planet 7 isn't licensed by Connecticut and publishes no full restricted-state list. See the Planet 7 Bitcoin page and crypto casino bonuses.
