Online sic bo is a three-dice game where you bet on the outcome of a single roll: the total, a number, a pair or a triple. Small and Big are the cheapest bets, at about 2.78% computed for standard payouts, while triples and some totals cost far more. Here's every bet, its true odds and its price in dollars.
Three dice give 216 equally likely outcomes, so every sic bo bet can be priced exactly.
Small and Big (and Odd and Even) have a house edge of about 2.78% under standard rules, because triples lose.
Single-number, double, triple and many total bets carry edges of roughly 8% to over 30%, depending on the payout.

What is online sic bo?
Online sic bo is a dice game of Chinese origin where three dice are rolled and you bet on what they show. RealTime Gaming's version appears in GamblingNews' list of RTG table games (opens in a new tab). No source we found publishes RTG's pay table or return to player, so this page prices each bet with the standard payouts and shows what changes if RTG's differ.
The table looks busy, with dozens of betting areas, but every bet comes down to counting. Three six-sided dice can land 6 × 6 × 6 = 216 ways, all equally likely. Once you know how many of those 216 outcomes win a bet, you know its true odds.
That makes sic bo a good game for seeing how house edge works in practice. It's also one of the easiest places to lose money fast on bad bets. If you prefer two dice, see online craps; for every RTG table game we cover, start at the games hub.
How to play online sic bo, step by step
Pick a chip value.
Place chips on one or more betting areas: Small, Big, a total, a single number, a pair of numbers, a double or a triple.
Press roll. The game's random number generator produces three dice.
Each bet is settled on its own. Winning bets pay at the odds shown on the table; losing bets are collected.
Repeat or clear the table. There are no decisions during a roll.
There's no skill in choosing when to roll and no way to influence the dice. The only real choice is which bets you make, which is why the odds tables below are the most useful part of this page. Our guide on how to play sic bo walks through the table layout in more detail.
Sic bo bets, payouts and house edge
Here are the main sic bo bets, with the standard payouts most guides quote and the edge we computed from the 216 outcomes. Payouts vary between casinos and software, so check RTG's in-game table before you play.

The single-number bet pays 1 to 1 if your number shows once (75 outcomes), 2 to 1 if twice (15) and 3 to 1 if three times (1). It loses on the other 125 outcomes. Adding that up, you get back 75 + 30 + 3 = 108 units and lose 125 for every 216 units bet, a net loss of 17 units: 17 ÷ 216 = 7.87%.
Sic bo total bets: odds for every number from 4 to 17
Total bets pay if the three dice add up to your number. Totals near the middle are common and pay little; extreme totals are rare and pay a lot. Using the standard payouts, the edge ranges from about 9.7% to 19%.

Take a total of 10. There are 27 ways to roll it, so on average 27 of every 216 rolls win 6 units each (162) and 189 lose 1 unit each. Net: 162 − 189 = −27 units per 216, or 12.5%. A total of 9 has two fewer ways to win at the same payout, which is why it costs 18.98%.
Why Small and Big are the best bets in sic bo
Small and Big look like 50-50 bets, and they almost are. Totals of 4 to 10 and 11 to 17 each cover 108 of the 216 outcomes. But under standard rules both bets lose on any triple, and three of the six triples (1-1-1, 2-2-2 and 3-3-3) fall in Small's range. That leaves 105 winning outcomes out of 216, a 48.6% chance.
At even money, you win 105 units and lose 111 for every 216 bet: a net loss of 6 units, or 2.78%. That small triple rule is the entire house edge on these bets. It's the same mechanism as the zero in European roulette, where even-money bets lose about 2.70%.
Sic bo pay table variations: what to check
Sic bo payouts differ more between versions than most table games. One step down on a long-shot payout can double its edge. We don't know RTG's exact table, so here's what common alternatives would cost, computed the same way.

Sic bo strategy myths: hot numbers and patterns
Myth: 'A triple is due.' Each RNG roll is independent; a triple is 6 in 216 every time, however long it's been. Read about the gambler's fallacy.
Myth: 'Betting Small and Big together is safe.' You lose both on any triple and break even otherwise, so you're paying 2.78% on twice the money for no chance of profit.
Myth: 'A doubling system recovers losses.' That's the Martingale. It doesn't change any bet's edge; see our Martingale glossary entry.
Myth: 'Online dice can be read.' The results come from a random number generator, not physical dice; see how RNGs work.
The only lever you control is which bets you make and how much. Losses are likely over time, whatever you choose.
Sic bo vs craps: which dice game costs less?
Both are dice games, but craps uses two dice and a sequence of rolls, while sic bo settles everything on one roll of three. Computed for standard rules, craps' best bets cost less.

Online sic bo and casino bonus terms
Silver Oak's own terms name Sic Bo in their list of games excluded from bonus play, together with baccarat, craps, pai gow poker and roulette. LCB, a third-party site, reports Royal Ace's bonus wagering at 30x for slots and 'parlor games' and 60x for blackjack and video poker, without saying whether sic bo counts. Planet 7's reported welcome terms cover slots.
Playing an excluded game while a bonus is active can void the bonus and its winnings. Play sic bo with your own cash balance, or finish a bonus first on eligible games. Our pages on game weighting and bonus terms red flags explain what to look for.
RTG sic bo: software and fairness
RealTime Gaming was founded in Atlanta in 1998, according to Wikipedia and other reference sites. PokerListings reports that it adopted the SpinLogic Gaming name for its US-facing business in 2022, and LCB and GamblingNews report that RTG games are tested by Technical Systems Testing (TST). See our RTG software page for more.
We found no public certificate or RTP for Sic Bo itself. The edges above are exact for the payouts shown, because a fair RNG makes each of the 216 outcomes equally likely. If RTG's payouts are lower, its edges are higher.
The RTG casinos below are offshore. They aren't licensed or regulated by any US state, so there's no state regulator to complain to and no state protection for your balance. Federal law (the UIGEA) targets payment processing, not individual players, so check your state's own law. Our page on offshore casinos and the law explains more.

Planet 7: LCB, a third-party site, reports code WELCOME200 at 200%, 30x (bonus + deposit) on slots and a $1,000 max cashout, with minimum deposits of $30 by card and $5 by Bitcoin Lightning. The board named it in an April 9, 2025 cease-and-desist release (opens in a new tab). See the Planet 7 review.
Royal Ace: third parties disagree. LCB's Royal Ace listing (opens in a new tab) reports 200% up to $4,000 with 30x (bonus + deposit) and a max cashout of 10 times the deposit, while Casino Guru reports 250% up to $2,500 plus 35 spins and says it doesn't accept Ohio players. Frequently asked questions
What is the best bet in online sic bo under standard payouts?
Under standard payouts, Small, Big, Odd and Even are the cheapest bets, each with a house edge of about 2.78% computed from the 216 dice outcomes. They pay even money and lose on any triple. Most other bets cost between about 8% and 19%, and some versions are worse. Our house edge explainer shows how these numbers work.
What are the odds of a triple in sic bo?
Any triple comes up 6 times in 216, or 1 in 36, about 2.8% of rolls. A specific triple, such as three 4s, is 1 in 216. At the standard 30 to 1 for any triple, the edge is about 13.89%; at 24 to 1 it rises to about 30.56%. See our jackpot odds guide for more on long-shot bets.
Is sic bo a game of skill?
No. Sic bo is pure chance: three random dice decide every bet, and nothing you do changes the odds. The only choices are which bets to make and how much to stake, so picking low-edge bets and setting a budget are what matter. Our bankroll management guide and gambling budget page can help with the second part.
Is online sic bo rigged?
There's no evidence of that in the sources we checked, but no public RTP or test certificate for RTG's Sic Bo was found either. LCB and GamblingNews report that RTG games are tested by Technical Systems Testing. A fair RNG makes all 216 outcomes equally likely. Read our answers on whether RTG games are fair and how RNGs work.
How much does sic bo cost per hour?
It depends on how many rolls you make and which bets you choose. A good way to estimate it is per 100 rolls: at $10 on Big, the average cost is about $27.78 under standard payouts, while $10 on a specific double costs about $185. Count your rolls and multiply by stake and edge. Our casino math basics guide explains the method.
Can I use a casino bonus on sic bo?
Often not. Silver Oak's terms list Sic Bo among games excluded from bonus play, and most offshore RTG bonuses are aimed at slots. Playing an excluded game with bonus money can void your winnings, so check the eligible games before you claim. Our wagering requirements guide and max cashout page explain the rest of the terms.
Is online sic bo legal in the US?
It depends on your state. Seven states license real-money online casinos, while the RTG casinos that offer sic bo are offshore and not licensed by any state. State law decides what's allowed for players, so check yours first. Our state guides and the page on whether online gambling is legal in the US explain the picture.
What does the name sic bo mean in English?
Sic bo is usually translated as 'precious dice' or 'dice pair'. It's a traditional Chinese game that spread through casinos in Asia and later online. The modern game uses three dice and a table of fixed bets. For a quick answer and a summary of the bets, see what is sic bo, and compare it with online baccarat, another table game popular in Asia.
What are the odds of rolling a total of 10 in sic bo?
A total of 10 comes up 27 times in 216 rolls, or 12.5% of the time, and the same is true of 11. At the standard payout of 6 to 1, that bet carries a house edge of 12.5%: on average 27 winning rolls return 162 units while 189 losing rolls cost 189. The totals of 9 and 12 have only 25 ways each at the same payout, which raises their edge to about 18.98%. RTG's payouts aren't published, so compare its table first. Our casino math basics guide and house edge explainer explain the counting.
How does the single number bet pay in sic bo?
Under standard payouts, a single number bet pays 1 to 1 if your number shows on one die, 2 to 1 on two dice and 3 to 1 on all three. Across 216 rolls that wins on 91 outcomes and loses on 125, for a computed house edge of about 7.87%. Some versions pay 12 to 1 when all three dice match your number, which cuts the edge to about 3.70%, so this is one of the lines worth checking on RTG's pay table. Our paytable glossary entry and how to play sic bo guide cover the layout.
Can you bet Small and Big at the same time in sic bo?
You can, but it guarantees you never profit on the roll. When Small wins, Big loses, and the reverse, so the two bets cancel out and you break even on 210 of 216 outcomes. On the six triples, both bets lose under standard rules, so the pairing simply pays 2.78% on twice the money. Covering more of the table never lowers the edge; it only spreads the same cost across more chips. Our house edge glossary entry and casino myths guide explain why hedging bets like this doesn't help.
Is sic bo better than roulette?
On their cheapest bets the two are almost identical in cost. Sic bo's Small and Big carry a computed edge of about 2.78% under standard payouts, while even-money bets in European roulette lose about 2.70%, both because one rare result (a triple, or the zero) beats the bet. The difference grows on long shots: many sic bo totals and triples cost 12% to 19% or more. At $10 a bet over 100 rounds, Big costs about $27.78 against roughly $27 on European red or black. Compare our European roulette page and is roulette better than slots.
Can I play sic bo on my phone?
Usually yes, through the casino's mobile browser, though no source confirms RTG's Sic Bo in any specific mobile lobby. Silver Oak's own mobile page describes browser play on iPhone, Android and tablets with no dedicated app, and third-party reviews describe Planet 7 and Royal Ace as instant-play casinos that work on phones. Open the table games section on your device and look for Sic Bo before you deposit. The odds are the same on any screen, since the RNG sets the dice. See our mobile casino guide and Silver Oak mobile page.
Is online sic bo legal in Connecticut?
Connecticut licenses real-money online casinos, so table games can be played legally there on sites authorized by the Department of Consumer Protection's Gaming Division, with an online casino age of 21. The state's land casinos include Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. The offshore RTG casinos that carry Sic Bo aren't licensed by Connecticut or any other state, so players in Bridgeport, Stamford and New Haven get no state protection there. Connecticut has also banned sweepstakes casinos, per third-party reports. See our Connecticut online casinos guide and Connecticut gambling laws page.
