Regulator actionIllinois Gaming Board letter, February 4, 2026
Is Sportzino legit? It's a real, identifiable business: a sweepstakes casino run by SSPS LLC, linked in a court filing to the Blazesoft group, with apps reported on both major app stores. It is not a licensed casino, though. It faces a New York class action, received an Illinois cease-and-desist letter, and blocks 16 states.
Operator: SSPS LLC, per Sportzino's own sweeps rules; a federal class-action complaint places it in the Blazesoft group.
No state gambling license: Sportzino relies on the sweepstakes model, which several states now ban outright.
Boatner v. SSPS LLC (S.D.N.Y., filed April 18, 2025) is a class action; its claims are allegations, not findings.
Illinois regulators sent Sportzino a cease-and-desist letter dated February 4, 2026; Sweeps Coin play there reportedly ended June 5, 2026.
The sweeps rules exclude 16 states; Oklahoma's ban took effect November 1, 2026, after that list was published.
Is Sportzino legit? The straight answer
Sportzino is legit in the narrow sense that a named company runs it and publishes sweepstakes rules. It is not legit in the sense of being a state-licensed casino, because it doesn't hold a gambling license anywhere in the US and instead argues that its dual-currency setup is a promotional sweepstakes.
Whether that argument holds depends on where you live. A growing list of states has rejected it by statute, regulators in Illinois have challenged it directly, and a New York lawsuit attacks it in court. Our full Sportzino review covers games and apps; this page weighs the trust questions.

Who owns Sportzino? SSPS LLC and Blazesoft
Sportzino's sweeps rules name SSPS LLC as the operator. The class-action complaint in Boatner v. SSPS LLC names SSPS LLC doing business as Sportzino and groups it with other Blazesoft brands, including Zula Casino and Fortune Coins.
A named operator matters because it gives players, regulators and courts someone to hold to account. That is more than many offshore sites offer. It still isn't the same as a state license, which brings audited games, protected balances and a regulator that takes complaints.
Is Sportzino legal? How the sweepstakes model works
Sportzino sells Gold Coins, which only buy play, and adds Sweeps Coins as a promotional extra. Sweeps Coins can be redeemed for prizes under the rules, with a 50 SC minimum per request. Because nobody has to buy anything to get Sweeps Coins, the brand argues it runs a sweepstakes rather than gambling.
Regulators and lawmakers increasingly disagree. Several states have passed bans aimed squarely at dual-currency sites, and others treat them as illegal gambling under existing law. Our guides to sweepstakes casino laws and whether sweepstakes casinos are legal set out both sides.
Sportzino is not a real-money casino in the legal sense it claims for itself, and it isn't licensed by any state. Whether you can use it depends on your state's law, not on the brand's own description.
Sportzino restricted states: the 16 on the list
Version 2.4 of the sweeps rules, dated August 12, 2026, excludes 16 states. Nine of them have specific sweepstakes bans; the other seven are excluded for different reasons, such as existing gambling law or regulator pressure.

Where dates differ, one source records when a bill was signed and another when it took effect; check the state page before relying on either. The rules also mention a win cap for Florida without giving the amount.
Sportzino and Oklahoma: the gap in the list
Oklahoma isn't among the 16 states in the August 2026 rules, yet SB 1589 took effect November 1, 2026. The law bans online casino games and dual-currency sweepstakes, and a bill summary reports that liability reaches promoters and affiliates as well as operators.
Sportzino in Illinois: the cease-and-desist letter
The Illinois Gaming Board and the state's attorney general sent more than 60 cease-and-desist letters to online casino and sweepstakes platforms in early 2026. The board's February 5, 2026 release (opens in a new tab) covers letters dated February 4, 2026, and those letters include Sportzino.
On April 18, 2025, a class action was filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, case number 1:25-cv-03251. The Boatner v. SSPS LLC complaint (opens in a new tab) names SSPS LLC doing business as Sportzino, alongside other Blazesoft companies.
A complaint sets out one side's allegations. It isn't a ruling, and nothing in our sources records an outcome. Treat it as a sign of legal risk around the model rather than proof of wrongdoing.
Sportzino and Michigan regulators
Sportzino isn't named in the three Michigan Gaming Control Board releases our site tracks for offshore operators (April 9, 2025; August 14, 2025; and October 8, 2026). Michigan is on Sportzino's excluded list all the same.
That fits the board's wider stance. It treats sweepstakes casinos as illegal gaming and has sent letters to other sweepstakes brands, such as Stake.us in November 2023. Our Michigan sweepstakes casinos page covers what's licensed there instead.
Is Sportzino legit compared with other sweepstakes casinos?
Sportzino's record looks typical once you set it beside other big sweepstakes brands. Most have a named operator, and most have drawn at least one regulator letter. The table uses each brand's own documents for the operator and official or third-party sources for actions, as checked on October 28, 2026.

Set a budget for coin purchases you can afford to lose.

The casinos below are a different kind of product: offshore real-money casinos rather than sweepstakes sites. Frequently asked questions
Is Sportzino a legit sweepstakes casino?
Sportzino is a real sweepstakes casino run by SSPS LLC, so it isn't a fly-by-night operation, but it holds no state gambling license. It faces a New York class action with unproven allegations and received an Illinois cease-and-desist letter in February 2026. Whether you should use it depends on your state's law. Our Sportzino review covers the full picture, and how to spot a rogue casino lists warning signs.
What company operates Sportzino?
SSPS LLC operates Sportzino, according to the brand's own sweeps rules. A class-action complaint filed in New York in April 2025 places SSPS LLC in the Blazesoft group, which also runs brands such as Zula Casino and Fortune Coins. The rules don't describe the corporate structure further. You can compare sister brands in our Zula Casino review and Fortune Coins review.
Is Sportzino legal in my state?
It depends on your state. Sportzino's rules exclude 16 states, including California, New York, New Jersey and Michigan, and Oklahoma's sweepstakes ban took effect November 1, 2026. Elsewhere, no statute may target sweepstakes casinos directly, but regulators can still act. Check which states ban sweepstakes casinos and your state's own page before you sign up.
What is the Sportzino class action about?
Boatner v. SSPS LLC is a class action filed April 18, 2025, in the Southern District of New York, case number 1:25-cv-03251. It names SSPS LLC doing business as Sportzino along with other Blazesoft companies. The complaint contains allegations only, and our sources don't record a ruling or settlement. Our sweepstakes casino laws page explains why the model attracts legal challenges.
Did Illinois take action against Sportzino?
Yes. The Illinois Gaming Board's February 5, 2026 release covered cease-and-desist letters dated February 4, 2026, and Sportzino was among the recipients. A trade report says Blazesoft brands including Sportzino ended Sweeps Coin play in Illinois on June 5, 2026, and Illinois is on Sportzino's excluded list. See our Illinois sweepstakes casinos guide for more.
Is Sportzino available in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma isn't on Sportzino's 16-state excluded list dated August 12, 2026, but that doesn't make play lawful there. Oklahoma's SB 1589 took effect November 1, 2026, banning online casino games and dual-currency sweepstakes, with reported liability for promoters and affiliates. Read our Oklahoma sweepstakes casinos page and the state's online casino law overview before going further.
Is Sportzino safer than an offshore casino?
Neither option carries state protection. Sportzino has a named operator and published rules but no gambling license, and its model faces bans and lawsuits. Offshore real-money casinos usually lack a US license too, with license claims that often conflict between sources. Compare the trade-offs in our sweepstakes vs real money casinos guide and our page on player protections, offshore vs licensed.
Does Sportzino pay out prizes?
Sportzino's rules allow Sweeps Coin redemptions from 50 SC per request, and a third-party review reports bank transfers taking about three to five days. Our sources include no payout statistics, so we can't confirm how reliably requests are paid. Verify your account early and keep records. Our Sportzino redemption guide walks through the process step by step.
Is the Sportzino app legit?
Sportzino's apps are reported on both the App Store and Google Play, according to a third-party review, which makes them easier to check than a download link. A store listing means the app passed the store's review, not that a gaming regulator licensed it; the app runs the same sweepstakes model as the website. Install it only from the official store page and check the developer name. Our answer to is there a casino app? explains how store rules differ by product.
Can I play Sportzino in Florida?
Florida isn't on Sportzino's excluded list, but its sweeps rules mention a win cap for Florida players without stating the amount, so check the cap before you play there. Florida has no statute banning sweepstakes casinos, and 2026 bills to create one died. Game promotions are allowed under Florida Statute 849.094 if they comply, and a third-party source reports lawsuits filed by the state attorney general on August 19, 2026. Players in Jacksonville, Miami or Tampa should read Florida sweepstakes casinos.
Is Sportzino legal in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania isn't on Sportzino's 16-state excluded list, and the state hasn't enacted a sweepstakes casino ban, according to a sweepstakes tracker. A bill, HB 2801, would set fines of $50,000 to $500,000 per violation and was referred to the House Gaming Oversight Committee on September 24, 2026. Pennsylvania also licenses real-money online casinos through its Gaming Control Board, which gives residents a regulated alternative with state protections. Follow HB 2801 on our Pennsylvania sweepstakes casinos page.
Can Arizona players use Sportzino?
Arizona isn't on Sportzino's excluded list, but its regulator takes a hard line. The Arizona Department of Gaming said in a March 31, 2025 release that online casinos are illegal in the state and that claims otherwise should be treated as highly suspicious. Arizona has no statute aimed at sweepstakes casinos, but a third-party source reports cease-and-desist orders to sweepstakes operators in 2025, including Stake.us. Players in Phoenix, Tucson or Mesa should read Arizona sweepstakes casinos before buying coins.
Do I need to verify my identity at Sportzino?
Yes, expect to. The no-purchase welcome offer of 170,000 Gold Coins and 7 Sweeps Coins is reported to arrive only after verification, according to a third-party review, and prize redemptions at sweepstakes sites are checked against your identity. Use your real name and address from the start, since a mismatch can hold a redemption. Have a photo ID and proof of address ready, and upload them only through the official site or app. Our answer to what is KYC? explains what these checks involve.
Do I owe tax on Sportzino prizes?
Yes, prizes redeemed from Sweeps Coins can be taxable income. The IRS instructions for Form W-2G say sweepstakes winnings are reportable when they reach the $2,000 threshold for 2026 and are at least 300 times the wager, and smaller prizes are still income. Keep a record of every coin purchase and redemption, with dates and amounts. From tax year 2026, the loss deduction is reportedly capped at 90% of losses; check IRS guidance before filing. Our W-2G form page explains when the form is issued.
Are Sportzino games rigged?
There's no published evidence that they are, but Sportzino's own sources don't document game testing either. A third-party review lists studios including NetEnt, Red Tiger, Relax Gaming, Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City and Big Time Gaming, plus Sportzino Originals. Established studios' games run on random number generators, but no testing lab or audit for Sportzino's lobby appears in the sources we checked. Like all casino-style games, they carry a built-in edge, so long sessions tend to lose coins. Our guide to how RNGs work explains independent testing.
