Our Modo.us review in one line: Modo.us is a small, web-only sweepstakes site run by ARB Gaming, LLC of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Arizona's own gaming regulator has told it to stop. Here is what its official rules say about coins, redemptions and the 17 states it excludes, and how it stacks up against other options.
Modo.us is operated by ARB Gaming, LLC d/b/a Modo.us, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, under a sweepstakes model with no gambling license.
Its official rules (updated October 1, 2026) exclude 17 states, including Arizona itself; a third-party review lists five more.
The Arizona Department of Gaming sent ARB Gaming a cease-and-desist letter, as reported by Covers in June 2025.
Redemption minimums are 20 Sweeps Coins for a gift card and 50 for cash, per the official rules.
Modo.us review: the verdict in brief
Modo.us is a dual-currency sweepstakes site, not a real-money online casino. It is unusual in one way: the company behind it is American, with an address in Scottsdale, Arizona. Most sweepstakes brands US players meet are run from overseas.
Being US-based hasn't kept it clear of regulators. The Arizona Department of Gaming sent the operator a cease-and-desist letter, and Arizona now sits at the top of Modo.us's own excluded-state list. Add a small studio lineup, no app and a paused purchase offer, and Modo.us looks like a niche option at best. Browse our casino reviews hub for the wider field.

Who owns Modo.us? ARB Gaming, LLC in Scottsdale
Modo.us's official promotional rules name ARB Gaming, LLC, doing business as Modo.us, at 13802 N Scottsdale Rd, Suite 151-94, Scottsdale, Arizona 85254. That is the legal entity behind the sweepstakes and the party responsible for paying prizes.
A US company is easier to identify and, in principle, to pursue through US courts than an offshore one. But that is not the same as being licensed. ARB Gaming holds no state gambling license for Modo.us; it relies on sweepstakes law, the same as offshore-run rivals. Our state regulators page lists who actually licenses gambling in each state.
Third-party reviewers date the launch to 2023, which gives Modo.us a short public record. No ratings, complaint counts or payout data from regulators are published for it.
Modo.us and the Arizona cease-and-desist
The most important fact in any honest Modo.us review is the regulator action in its home state. The Arizona Department of Gaming sent a cease-and-desist letter to ARB Gaming LLC d/b/a Modo.us. Covers reported it on June 30, 2025, in its story on Stake and six other operators receiving Arizona letters (opens in a new tab); the letter to Modo.us is reported as dated April 2025.
Arizona is now the first entry on the excluded list in Modo.us's rules. In other words, the operator can't offer its sweepstakes to players in the state where it is based. Our Arizona sweepstakes casinos page covers how Arizona treats these sites and its wider gambling law.
A cease-and-desist letter is a regulator's demand, not a court judgment. It still tells you that the state considers the product unlawful there. Our cease-and-desist letters explainer covers what usually follows.
How Modo.us sweepstakes play works
Modo.us uses the two-currency system common to US sweepstakes casinos. Gold Coins are play money for entertainment. Sweeps Coins are the promotional currency that can be redeemed for prizes once you meet the minimums in the rules.
You open an account and receive the sign-up Sweeps Coins described in the rules.
You can buy Gold Coin packages; Sweeps Coins may come bundled with them.
Games are played in either Gold Coin mode or Sweeps Coin mode.
Sweeps Coin winnings that meet the rules can be redeemed as a gift card or cash prize.
A no-purchase method of entry must exist for the promotion to be a sweepstakes; its details are in the official rules.
This is the structure states such as New York, New Jersey and California have now banned. Our what are Sweeps Coins answer explains where the line between free-to-play and prize play sits.
Modo.us bonus and promo code: what's on offer
Sweepsy, a third-party review site, reports the Modo.us sign-up offer as 1 Sweeps Coin with no purchase. It also lists a purchase package of 200,000 Gold Coins plus 50 Sweeps Coins for $19.99, but marks it as not currently active. Check the purchase screen for what is live today, and see our Modo.us promo code page for any codes reported.
One Sweeps Coin is a small start. Here is the arithmetic against the official redemption minimums:

The inactive package worked out to $19.99 for 50 bonus Sweeps Coins, or about $0.40 of purchase price per Sweeps Coin ($19.99 ÷ 50). Any playthrough rule on Sweeps Coins isn't given in the third-party summary, so read the official rules. Games carry a house edge, so turning 1 SC into 20 or 50 is unlikely; treat the sign-up coin as a way to try the games. Our expected value of a bonus guide shows how to judge any offer in numbers.
Modo.us excluded states: the official list and the extras
Modo.us's official rules, updated October 1, 2026, exclude 17 states. Sweepsy lists five more. Because sweepstakes lists change often, use the official rules as the floor and treat the extra five as a reason to check before you sign up.

Most of the official list lines up with state bans: New Jersey, New York, California, Connecticut, Montana, Tennessee, Indiana, Maine, Louisiana and Oklahoma have all passed sweepstakes casino bans, as tracked on our sweepstakes casino bans page. Michigan, Delaware, West Virginia and Connecticut also license real-money online casinos. If you're in Florida, see our Florida sweepstakes casinos page before relying on the shorter list.
Modo.us games and software
Sweepsy names three studios at Modo.us: Relax Gaming, Booming Games and Evoplay. That is a much shorter list than larger sweepstakes rivals report. For comparison, third-party reviewers list 15 studios at McLuck.
No game count or per-game RTP is published for Modo.us in the sources available, so we don't quote one. Whatever the studio, slots return less than they take in over time. Real-money offshore casinos running RealTime Gaming software are a different catalog altogether.
Modo.us redemption and withdrawal process
The official rules set redemption floors of 20 Sweeps Coins for a gift card and 50 Sweeps Coins for cash. Third-party reviews report an advertised turnaround of 1–4 days. No crypto option is published.
Confirm your state isn't on the excluded list in the current official rules.
Make sure your profile name, address and date of birth match your ID exactly.
Check that your redeemable Sweeps Coins meet 20 SC (gift card) or 50 SC (cash).
Submit the redemption request and save the confirmation.
Expect an identity check on a first redemption, and answer document requests promptly.
If nothing arrives after the advertised 1–4 days, follow up with support in writing and keep copies.
No. Third-party reviews describe Modo.us as web only, so you play in a phone or desktop browser. That is a step behind rivals such as Pulsz and McLuck, which are reported to have App Store and Google Play apps. Browser play is the norm for many casino-style sites; keep your login secure with a strong, unique password.

Is Modo.us legit and legal where you live?
Modo.us is a real, identifiable company with official rules, so it isn't a fake site. Whether it is legal for you depends on your state. Federal law, including UIGEA, doesn't define sweepstakes play as lawful or unlawful; state law does, and more states are acting each year. New York's ban, for example, was announced by the New York Senate (opens in a new tab) and took effect December 5, 2025.
Yes. Sweepstakes prizes are taxable income for federal purposes. The IRS Form W-2G instructions (opens in a new tab) set reporting rules for sweepstakes prizes, but you owe tax whether or not a form arrives. Our gambling taxes guide covers record keeping.
Staying in control on sweepstakes sites
Small coin packages add up. Decide a monthly limit in dollars, track every purchase, and never buy coins to win back what you've spent. For free, confidential help, contact the National Problem Gambling Helpline (opens in a new tab) by calling or texting 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738). Our responsible gambling section lists blocking apps, including Gamban and BetBlocker.
Alternatives to Modo.us with an offer via our links
If you want real-money play instead of sweepstakes coins, these are the partner casinos we list. They are offshore casinos, licensed (if at all) outside the US and not licensed or regulated by any US state, so there is no state regulator to complain to, no state-backed protection of balances, and the casino sets its own terms. Check your state's law first. All offers are for new players, 21+ (18+ where allowed), and terms apply. We earn a commission and rank partners commercially.
SlotoCash Casino: $6,000 Welcome Bonus + 60 Free Spins, via our link (new players, 21+ or 18+ where allowed, terms apply). SlotoCash's own terms say its welcome bonuses need a $20 minimum deposit and 25x (deposit + bonus) wagering, with no max cashout, on slots, keno and scratch cards. Its own site advertises a different package ($7,777 + 300 spins over five deposits), so the terms shown at sign-up apply. The Michigan Gaming Control Board named SlotoCash in its October 8, 2026 cease-and-desist release (opens in a new tab). See our SlotoCash review.
Decode Casino: $5,000 Welcome Bonus + 50 Free Spins, via our link (new players, 21+ or 18+ where allowed, terms apply). Decode doesn't show bonus terms on its site; third-party reviews report deposit offers at 25x–35x (deposit + bonus) wagering with a $25 minimum, and conflicting weekly withdrawal caps of $2,500 or $5,000. Read our Decode review.
Silver Oak Casino: $2,500 Welcome Bonus + 50 Free Spins, via our link (new players, 21+ or 18+ where allowed, terms apply). Silver Oak's terms give 40x wagering on slots (its offer page says 30x) and 60x on table games and video poker, no max withdrawal on the welcome bonus, and a $30 minimum deposit. It publishes an Anjouan license and was named by Michigan on April 9, 2025. See our Silver Oak review.
Bonuses at all three are slot-focused; table games are often excluded or weighted lower, so check the terms. For more choices, see our best real money casinos.

Frequently asked questions
Is Modo.us a real company?
Modo.us is a real company: its official rules name ARB Gaming, LLC of Scottsdale, Arizona, as the operator. But legit isn't the same as licensed or lawful everywhere. It runs on a sweepstakes model with no gambling license, the Arizona Department of Gaming sent it a cease-and-desist letter, and it excludes 17 states. Our is Modo.us legit page goes through the trust signals one by one.
Which Arizona company is behind Modo.us?
ARB Gaming, LLC owns and runs Modo.us, according to its official promotional rules. The company lists an address at 13802 N Scottsdale Rd, Suite 151-94, Scottsdale, Arizona 85254. That makes it one of few sweepstakes brands with a US-registered operator, though it still holds no state gambling license. Our state regulators page shows who licenses gambling in each state.
Why can't I play Modo.us in Arizona?
Arizona is on Modo.us's excluded list after the Arizona Department of Gaming sent the operator a cease-and-desist letter, reported by Covers in June 2025. The operator is based in Scottsdale, so it can't offer its sweepstakes in its home state. Don't try to get around the exclusion; the rules let the site void prizes. Our Arizona sweepstakes casinos page explains the state's position.
What states is Modo.us not available in?
Modo.us's official rules, updated October 1, 2026, exclude 17 states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Washington and West Virginia. Sweepsy lists five more: Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. Check the current rules before joining. Our which states ban sweepstakes casinos answer covers the laws behind the lists.
What is the Modo.us sign-up bonus?
Third-party reviews report 1 Sweeps Coin on sign-up with no purchase needed. A purchase package of 200,000 Gold Coins plus 50 Sweeps Coins for $19.99 is listed but marked not currently active, so check the purchase screen for what is live. Any offer is for adults 21+ and terms apply. Our Modo.us promo code page tracks reported codes.
What redemption minimums does Modo.us set for gift cards and cash?
Modo.us's official rules set a minimum of 20 Sweeps Coins for a gift card redemption and 50 Sweeps Coins for a cash redemption. Third-party reviews report an advertised payout time of 1–4 days. Have your ID ready, since a first redemption usually involves an identity check. Our Modo.us redemption page explains each step.
Does Modo.us have an app?
No app is reported. Third-party reviews describe Modo.us as web only, so you play through a browser on your phone or computer. Competitors such as Pulsz and McLuck are reported to have App Store and Google Play apps. An app listing doesn't change the legal position in your state either way. Our mobile casino guide explains browser play on phones.
Is Modo.us better than real-money casinos?
It's a different product rather than a better or worse one. Modo.us uses Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins under a sweepstakes model, while offshore real-money casinos take deposits in dollars or crypto and pay winnings directly. Neither is licensed by your state outside the seven that license online casinos. Our sweepstakes vs real money answer compares the two.
Is Modo.us legal in Georgia?
Georgia isn't on Modo.us's official excluded list or the extra third-party list, and the state has no statewide sweepstakes casino ban as of October 2026. That leaves sweepstakes play unaddressed by a specific law rather than authorized. Georgia has no casino or sports betting regulator at all; the Georgia Lottery Corporation runs the lottery only, and online casinos aren't legal there. Modo.us holds no Georgia license. Players in Atlanta, Columbus or Augusta should read our Georgia sweepstakes casinos page and the Georgia gambling laws guide.
Can I play Modo.us in Maryland?
Probably not: Maryland isn't on Modo.us's official October 1, 2026 rules list, but a third-party reviewer lists it as excluded. The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency says no real-money online gaming operates legally in the state beyond sports wagering and fantasy contests, and it lists cease-and-desist letters to sweepstakes brands such as Chumba Casino and LuckyLand Slots. Maryland hasn't passed a sweepstakes ban; several bills, including HB 1140, weren't enacted. Players in Baltimore should check Modo.us's current rules and our Maryland sweepstakes casinos and Maryland gambling laws pages.
What games can you play on Modo.us?
Modo.us offers slot-style games from three studios named by a third-party review: Relax Gaming, Booming Games and Evoplay. That's a short list next to rivals such as McLuck, where reviewers list 15 studios. Modo.us doesn't publish a game count or per-game RTP figures in the sources available, so browse the lobby in Gold Coin mode before you buy anything. Games run on random number generators and carry a house edge, so balances tend to shrink over many spins. Our guides to how slot RTP works and slot volatility explain what to look for.
What happens if I play Modo.us from an excluded state?
If you play Modo.us from an excluded state, the operator can refuse or void prize redemptions under its sweepstakes rules, and your account may be closed. The official rules, updated October 1, 2026, list 17 excluded states, and a third-party reviewer adds five more. Using a false address, someone else's account or location-masking tools to get around the list breaks the rules and can cost you any Sweeps Coins you've built up. Check your state on the day you play, because lists change often. Our sweepstakes casino bans tracker and guide to VPNs and online casinos explain the risks.
What can I do if Modo.us doesn't pay my prize?
Start with a written request to Modo.us support, and keep copies of every reply, the redemption date, amount and any reference number. The official rules name ARB Gaming, LLC of Scottsdale, Arizona as the party responsible for paying prizes, which gives you a US company and address to cite. No state gaming regulator supervises Modo.us prizes, though, and Arizona's regulator has already told it to stop operating there. Check first that you met the 20 SC gift card or 50 SC cash minimum and finished identity checks. Our guide to filing a casino complaint and the Modo.us redemption page cover next steps.
